Hi!
So I'm looking to just chat and hang out (virtually) with some other mums who are also gamers.
None of my mum friends play and none of my gamer friends are mums.... see where I'm going here?

There MUST be others like me out there! --I'm late 30s
-Ps4 (was going to upgrade but baby #2 came along 👀)
-Open world
-SP

  • fav games are Skyrim, Witcher 3, LoU, Days Gone and Fallout

Please feel to hit me up with your favs and how/when you find time to play!

I've got a PS5 and I'm about 60 hours into Baldurs Gate 3. It's honestly so addicting, do need to go back to hogwarts legacy at some point.

Also play with my son, so Fortnite and Minecraft occasionally but I'm terrible at them. We've recently been doing some escape room type games together online too.

I'm a career professional so nobody outside family really knows how much time I spend gaming online Blush

DS and I are waiting for Baldurs Gate 3 to get a bit cheaper 😁

Phoenix9 · 30/09/2023 22:39

@bluesatin

It's well worth buying when it drops in price. You can get lost for hours, there's so many choices in character creation alone.

bluesatin · 30/09/2023 22:41

We played the original one, also the Neverwinter games.

Mindovermatter247 · 30/09/2023 22:44

Me…
I have a ps4 and a switch
my fave games are the last of us 1&2, hogwarts legacy and nba2k aswell as the oldies… crash bandicoot grand theft auto
my ds15, his few friends think it’s so cool that I game.. their mums apparently don’t even know how to hold a controller 😜

Mindovermatter247 · 30/09/2023 22:47

im mid 30’s. I remember when I was pregnant with DS 16 years ago, I played wii every night, it actually calmed me..
i play mostly in autumn and winter when it’s to shitty weather to get outside. With exception this year because Hogwarts legacy came out in may… I’ve since completed it 3 times… I usually play between the school runs, days off if I’m not busy and in the evenings.

addler · 30/09/2023 22:51

@IVFfirsttimer91 I played loooooads when DS1 was born as he only napped in the sling so we would just sit and play for ages as it was lockdown Grin

Now with DD it's nap time or evenings.

Currently playing Horizon Forbidden West, loved LoU, Fallout 4, Mass Effect trilogy, Dragon Age games, Skyrim.

burnoutbabe · 30/09/2023 22:54

Just turned 50. Not a mum but a mumsnetter.

Have been enjoying dishonoured 2 today. I was very upset last week that I actually felt sick after playing! Omg I am too old for gaming!

But in fact it was a"head bop" option that had changed to on that was the cause so turned that off and back to normal.

Will play starfield soon. Didn't want to start before next holiday.

Nb-there is a gaming forum on mumsnet. Lots of gamers there too.

fpurplea · 30/09/2023 22:55

39 mum to an about to turn 1 year old here! My gaming days started on the family Acorn and my Megadrive, but it wasn't til lockdown and the loan of a friend's ps4 I got back into it. HZD got me hooked, but friends got me into FO76 and I never left, 1500 hours and counting lol! Lack of time means that's pretty much all I play at the moment, half an hourish a day. Pre baby I followed my mates around whatever games they were playing, loved a bit of DBD and Conan! Enjoyed Life Is Strange, but my ps5 is absolutely full of games I wish I had time to start.

Currently playing Hogwarts Legacy for 15 mins at a time, same with HFW Burning Shores. And occasionally bust out Sonic Origins!

Snowontheroof · 30/09/2023 23:00

I like pc games. Love the sims and planet zoo, anything where you can build/design things. My son is 7 and we build things on minecraft together.

buddhasbelly · 30/09/2023 23:12

Love Detroit Become Human; hogwarts legacy; Horizon 1 and 2 and if you happen to have a partner that also loves gaming please please get It Takes Two. An absolutely fantastic game!

IVFfirsttimer91 · 30/09/2023 23:25

I absolutely loved the sims when I was a teenager. I’ve actually been talking to one of my old school friends quite a bit recently and we mention the sims regularly! I also loved rollercoaster tycoon, black and white and boulders gate!!!

Californiabound · 01/10/2023 03:20

I got a bit obsessed with wow at one point, can't even be a normal person within gaming haha. I cba with it now, I only take interest when it's the race to world first. Absolutely adore that although the last one was boring.

Tarsandcase · 01/10/2023 09:25

I'm mid 30s with a 3 year old and mostly play management simulation type PC games (Tropico, Cities Skylines, Two Point Hospital, Planet Coaster etc). I'm very excited by the new Cities Skylines game coming out this month!

I also have a Switch but rarely use it. Although, I played Yoshi's Crafted World and loved it.

CharlieBalf · 01/10/2023 10:12

@Italianita ahhh that's the life! My DH and I can't wait till we can retire and change thr nursery into a gaming room 😄😄

I absolutely loved Assassins Creed Valhalla, Red Read Redemption 2, the Ghost of Tsushima, the Last of Us (both games) and HZD (both games). I finished Hogwarts Legacy but I didn’t like it as much - there were a few times when other characters would talk about my character and describe me as “they” which felt quite clunky.

I have Elden Ring but I have really struggled with it. I think I need quite a lot of dialogue for a game to be interesting.

On Thursday Assassins Creed Mirage is coming out.

I've got Mirage on pre-order! The gameplay looks amazing.

It's a lot cheaper in Asda though if you're going out buying it 😁

Elden ring is a very difficult game. Took me a while to complete.

gotomomo · 01/10/2023 10:40

Lost my ps4 to n divorce settlement (it really was his) but still pc game. More strategy games and sims

gotomomo · 01/10/2023 10:43

Not currently playing but played wow, red dead redemption, assassins creed. My little ones are now big adult ones, one is a huge gamer.

eandz13 · 01/10/2023 10:53

Me, PS5 mainly although still use 4 for replays.

TLOU1 & 2 are probably all time favourites
Res 4, 7 and 8
Dying Light 1 is top tier
Uncharted 4
MW3 & WWII but I've fallen out of love with COD
AC Origins was the best of the bunch in my opinion

I usually go on for a couple hours every other evening, DH plays with me or we play separately. Both in our 30s

CharlieBalf · 01/10/2023 11:01

@bluesatin and @Phoenix9 Baldurs Gate was the first game hubster, and I played together ❤️ We really want to get 3 but I'm adamant I need to play LoU part 1 on the ps5 forst before anything.
That game has my heart.@eandz13 I'm with you there- prob my fav.
Have you wated the series? Love Pedro as Joel but nothing really matches the intensity of the games.

OP posts:
eandz13 · 01/10/2023 11:07

Yeah, I did enjoy the series but I completely agree with you, it doesn't completely hit the spot.
Pedro was fab and loveable but if I was to pick the cast i'd have chosen Coster Waldau and Kaitlyn Dever. When the suggested casting came out I fell in love with the idea of those two!
Loved the depth they gave Bill and Frank though. It's less action packed than I'd hoped overall but to be fair, it had huge boots to fill.

CruCru · 01/10/2023 11:37

There are rumours that Naughty Dog are going to make TLOU part 3.

CornishGem1975 · 01/10/2023 11:42

I don't call myself a gamer because my teenage son says I'm not one but I've played games for 40 years. Nowadays it's The Sims, Animal Crossing, Two Point Hospital and currently Dreamlight Valley. Oh and massively into Pokémon Go.

None of these qualify me for "gamer status" though BlushConfusedGrin
