If cannabis was made legal, would you use it?

I would be interested in trying the funny version to see if it helped with pain. Not interested in smoking it. I’ve never smoked in my life and I’m not going to start

Yes, it helps with chronic pain.

Medical cannabis is an oil you tincture under the tongue you don't smoke it. But it's still so strong tasting and smelling to me

Nope you are wrong.
I know someone who has 60g a month delivered. It's good quality buds in tubs with a prescription label and lots of data about the strain, THC and CBD levels, origen, etc.

Oils etc are available, but you are wrong if you think you don't smoke medical cannabis.

marketing101 · 30/09/2023 20:39

My bad, I should have written when I was prescribed medical cannabis through Integro clinic via a harley st doctor, it was a tincture under the tongue. There was no mention of it being anything i smoke. (I am in the UK if relevant)

Mabelface · 30/09/2023 21:16

Absolutely. I'm autistic with ADHD and it gives me an hour's peace from my brain.

Singleandproud · 12/11/2024 07:57

No as I don't have any health conditions it could help with, if I did I would taking into accounts it's side effects just like any prescribed or OTC medication

lljkk · 12/11/2024 08:09

I was a stoner for a few years as a teenager.
I stopped smoking MJ because I didn't like being stupid & zoned out.
Now I loathe the smell.
So no... not interested in trying it again.
I suppose I did try canibis gummies for insomnia (zero effect).
Who knows... drunk at a party I might try smoking it again.
I very rarely get that drunk, though.

lljkk · 12/11/2024 08:09

oops, a bit too specific there. not selling anything nor did i say anything offensive

bifurCAT · 12/11/2024 08:12

I wonder where people's lines are with this. I agree with other posters' comments that 'drug' is a point of view.

Why is the buzz from alcohol, caffeine, even chocolate, any different than that from Cannabis? Why is Cannabis different from cigarettes or vaping?

Laws aside, it seems so arbitrary.

I wouldn't use it, by the way. This is just me thinking out loud.

elastamum · 12/11/2024 08:19

You can get it prescribed and vape it if you don't want to smoke. It is legal in the UK on prescription.

RelativePitch · 12/11/2024 08:19

Yes I would, especially if there were different strengths available. In my 20s, it was the 'soap' that was crumbled or melted into brownies or yoghurt or a joint. Very mild. Now it's all skunk and way too powerful for me.

The funny version?
Really?

I think you'll find it is not 'all skunk'. So many strains and varieties are available. granted, not perhaps from the spotty youth on a street corner, but the infinite varieties can cover every 'flavour' and effect (for example, to just relax, help you sleep, make you think)
Mostly

ClytemnestraWasMisunderstood · 12/11/2024 08:41

I love this response. So very 'English'
"I would try, but I will only dip a teeny-tiny toe into this big sea of drug abuse and despair, and will wear my sensible shoes while doing so"
I mean, we don't want anyone on here to be sent into a pearl-clutching faint because someone may have enjoyed a bit of weed
After all, this is the 'gateway' to mugging old ladies for your next fix of spicedcocaine...

beeeeeeez · 12/11/2024 08:52

I take the 'health food shop' oil for joint pain (pun intentional, you're welcome). It makes a marked difference, but not overnight. It also improves my general cheerfulness, and that has been obvious since dose 2.

Would absolutely take the stuff with the recreational effects if pain gets worse, which it stands to do as I age further.

That's true. I just find the weed my DH gets way too strong, but he's had the same grower for years. I just loved the choice in the CSCs in Spain.

Yes, and I’d like it to be delivered by a smiling uniformed man with my Ocado delivery, because I wouldn’t want to go into the cannabis equivalent of Asda for my experiments…😀

Perhaps it could be included in the Waitrose Essentials range?

mugglewump · 12/11/2024 08:55

Medicinal cannabis has a huge role to play; not just for managing pain, but also for managing conditions like ADHD. Both my DD and DH have ADHD and find it really helps them - especially with calming their minds before sleep. Cannabis is far less harmful than alcohol. It's really quite incomprehensible why such a useful natural medicine is not legal.

Disturbia81 · 12/11/2024 08:57

No because it just makes me sleep and I hate the smell and health effects
But for pain and to chill fast paced people.. it's brilliant. Better than alcohol! The amount of men I know who were quick to anger who have changed into better people on it

iloveeverykindofcat · 12/11/2024 08:57

Probably not, I tried it a few times when I was young and ignorant to the horrors of the trade and honestly I barely felt anything. I remember thinking: "huh....is that it?" Either the strains I tried were exceptionally weak or I'm just someone it doesn't affect much. I suspect the latter, I also have a much higher alcohol tolerance than one would expect for a woman my size who rarely drinks. I think I'm just weirdly resistant to intoxicants.

JohnBinary · 12/11/2024 08:57

It is legal for medical use (in the UK). I have a prescription for my autism and just take a few drops of oil every day, but others can take much stronger doses if needed.

It's illegal to smoke it. They prescribe it to vape, or as an oil. Those are the legal ways to consume it medicinally.

There's a lot of misinformation on this thread. 😟

Babybaby208 · 12/11/2024 09:05

It's awful stuff my neighbours smoke it in their garden I guess because they dont want the disgusting smell in their own home . Time i shut the windows my house stinks of the crap. Buses smell of it bus stop etc it's everywhere.

For medical reasons yes bit given by the gp on the medical form. Not self medicating whete it effects other people and their kids having to smell it it's gross .

It can also gave bad effects in the brain especially young people who are still developing etc .

BoobyDazzler · 12/11/2024 09:06

No, because I’ve tried it before and I don’t like it. I also wouldn’t want to smell like it - because it smells repulsive and so do people who smoke it.

Throwawayagain1234 · 12/11/2024 09:14

I have used it, legally, for years now in the UK for pain arising from 30 years of inflammatory arthritis. I have CBD and THC oils separately, gummies (containing both) and what they euphemistically call 'flowers' which I use in a (prescribed) dry vape. All comes in a monthly parcel complete with prescription labelling via DPD.

I cannot push this point home enough: Currently I am living life at a level I never, ever thought possible. My pain is much lower and am doing things I have never thought I would be able to. A whole life has opened up for me again.

As an ex 'stoner' student it's a very different experience, THC strains are chosen for their anti inflammatory effects and don't give me the munchies or make me stupidly giggly (sadly!). I heard a doctor on the radio say that if street cannabis is the equivalent of say vodka then the prescription stuff is more a white wine soda! The THC does make me dozy though so that's evening only.

I have regular check ups with either a doctor or pharmacist, screening my mental health as well as my pain levels. If the UK tried to take it away again I would either get very much into gardening or move somewhere it was legal.

I work (part time due to my disability) a very upstanding and pressured job and you would never know I was 'stoned' every evening, work know and it doesn't affect my performance. It's a bloody miracle in my opinion.

Ooh, will they hide this comment too? I've never had a comment hidden until MN moderate it before.
