If cannabis was made legal, would you use it?

I would be interested in trying the funny version to see if it helped with pain. Not interested in smoking it. I’ve never smoked in my life and I’m not going to start

For pain relief, too right I would.

I have very bad back pain - broke a disc a few years ago and took a lot of opiates. It still hurts and get cramps and spasms in legs.

Curious if anyone here finds cannabis to help this sort of pain? I do not like taking codeine etc

Yes, edibles have been really effective.

TotalOverhaul · 30/09/2023 16:54

No. I tried it in my teens and loathed it. It made me vomit hard and then next day I felt severe depression like I'd never felt before. I can't even stand the smell of the smoke.

autumnpumpkinlattes · 30/09/2023 16:56

I don't use it now and never have but I think I would use it as a weekend treat to wind down. I don't drink alcohol and I know some people drink a bottle of wine at the weekend so can't see how this is any different? I have always found it a bit bizarre that it's illegal when it is a natural plant. I wouldn't judge anybody for taking it now.

I'd like something mild - not skunk strength stuff that's available these days. And ethically sourced.

That's a really important point. Around 30% of people exploited in UK modern slavery work on cannabis farms. I can't see how anyone could be comfortable with that.

marketing101 · 30/09/2023 17:04

Medical cannabis is an oil you tincture under the tongue you don't smoke it. But it's still so strong tasting and smelling to me

AfraidToRun · 30/09/2023 17:11

No the smell makes me vomit

Babybaby208 · 30/09/2023 17:14

No way it stinks. Its the worst smell ever

Enderunicorn · 30/09/2023 17:20

Yes. I would use it now if I had a spare £260 a month as it's prescribed for a few of my conditions privately.

ChickenJeffrey · 30/09/2023 17:25

I have chronic pain, and shit mobility. I'm in constant pain just at different degrees, so yes I definitely would. It'd have be edibles though, I've never smoked.

Jeffreybubblesbombom · 30/09/2023 17:31

Yes.. for pain and have done / still do ( in a dry herb vape .. don't get mixed up with the other vapes) so you don't have to have a joint with tobacco.
It has never ever made me " high" or any other things people seem to think it does to you.
The strongest painkiller l can take is paracetamol ( allergic to ibuprofen/ aspirin any opiate like codimol/ tramadol/ morphine.
I have broken both hips and pelvis .. have osteoarthritis/ fibromyalgia/ neuropathy. Had 26 plus operations... and when I'm so bad l can't take the pain.. like once ever 6 weeks on average l use cannabis.. it's either that or suicide..

somethinghastochangesoon · 30/09/2023 17:33

I make my own edibles.

I don't smoke or drink and I don't smoke cannabis.

I just have a brownie of a weekend when I go to bed.

Sunnyweatherwoman · 30/09/2023 17:37

No I don't think so, not for fun. It didn't really agree with me when I was 20ish so haven't done it since.
If I was experiencing long term pain then I might try it in a low dose just to see.

Itsnamechange · 30/09/2023 17:39

Medical cannabis is any cannabis product used for medical reasons. It actually sounds like you're describing cbd oil, which isn't actually medical cannabis.

You don't have to smoke cannabis to consume it and medical cannabis can come in various forms.

Natsku · 30/09/2023 17:58

I've used it before but I wouldn't now, not after I saw how it impacted my ex's mental health

TabithaTiger · 30/09/2023 18:01

No, I used to smoke it years when I was at college and it never really did much for me, just made me feel sleepy and lazy. I've also seen too many people become addicted to it and seen how their mental health had suffered as a result.

Now, if MDMA was legal and you could guarantee what you were taking was safe, I'd be very tempted! I had some amazing nights out on E, much prefer it to alcohol.

SunflowerBlues · 30/09/2023 18:03

You can legally buy CBD edibles from Holland & Barrett in the UK.
I have their gummies for my arthritis and it seems to help.

EasternStandard · 30/09/2023 18:04

No I can’t stand the stuff

I did that kind of thing as a teen. That was enough

truthhurts23 · 30/09/2023 18:05

yes but I also want to try hallucinogenic teas , life is so boring sober

bombastix · 30/09/2023 18:31

@AutumnCrow - thank you. I hate opiates so will look into this as an alternative.

NoMor · 30/09/2023 18:35

Not unless I needed it for medicinal reasons. I prefer uppers.

Saverage · 30/09/2023 18:36

Would absolutely take it. I've tried THC gummies for insomnia and they work very well.

I don't drink alcohol, it is terrible for your health in so many ways. So I would welcome cannabis being legal, as I like it socially as well, in small doses.

MartyFunkhouser · 30/09/2023 18:38

We are partial to the odd joint at a party, so yes, definitely.

LindorDoubleChoc · 30/09/2023 18:39

I wouldn't smoke it again. I never got on with it in my teens and twenties - it didn't relax me, it had the opposite effect and made me restless and very paranoid.

If I had a chronic pain condition or Parkinsons I would try it again in the other forms though - I think most people would try most things to relieve pain.
