Eh? What on Earth is 'the parenting space'? Do you mean parents looking after their own kids in, you know, their own home? Please stop with the self-aggrandizing word-soup.

Thank you all for saying what I thought when I saw this message. 😂

Snort at influencer

And cringe at the eager beavers who have posted with actual names

Why is it “cringe” to answer the question? I’ve got no qualms in sticking my head above the parapet.

Parenting journey
Impactful
Influencers

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

Influencers can piss off, and so can anyone who thinks that I am interested in them.

Given that half the Active Threads are ‘promoted by Mumsnet’, clearly this place is turning into dull revenue-generating machine.

I never click on the ‘promoted by MN’ threads. Why click on an ad…..?

But presumably other people do, as they continue to come thick and fast….

Tedious.

If you reject all data when you delete your cookies the 'promoted by MN' posts disappear.

The parenting space lies between Mars and Jupiter, somewhere around the asteroid belt...

FOTTFSOFTFOASM · 26/09/2023 20:13

I missed "parenting space". It's like Bellend Bingo in here.

dangerrabbit · 27/09/2023 12:39

I hate all this fake influencer crap. Another carbunkle on the arse of late stage capitalism. With regard to parenting influencers, I consider them a particularly insidious and exploitative example of this genre, considering that these are parents willing to pimp out their own children for clicks. Also lay off the marketing bullshit speak. Did MNHQ think our group intelligence had so far receeded that we were going to fall for this nonsense?

Oh, thanks for clarifying.

Let's hope the shiny, new meeja graduate at MNHQ has taken note.

God in a lengthy list of candidates this wins the "tone deaf thread of the week" prize by a county mile
its like a depressing race to the bottom

I know. I suppose we should be grateful that LibbyMumsnet didn't hail us with 'Hey Famalam' FFS.

I don't follow any influencers as I don't want to be advertised at and also I don't really get the whole thing, I'm 46!

However, I do follow Louise Thompson on Instagram and I guess she might reckon on herself as a tiny bit of an influencer as part of her media presence as she does promote brands occasionally, I follow her because I liked her years ago on MIC and we both almost died during childbirth and I am inspired sometimes by what she writes.

HTH!

all celebs 'almost died' during childbirth.

yogasaurus · 28/09/2023 21:06

all celebs 'almost died' during childbirth.

A thousand times this. The Z list’s favourite; The Traumatic Birth.

AngeloMysterioso · 28/09/2023 21:11

I unfollow any brands who use influencers, even if I like them. It’s a personal crusade for me.

Same. I find it almost offensive. Like why the hell should I be expected to fork out a four figure sum from my minimum wage earnings for (for example) a silver cross pram, when they’ve given one to millionaire Millie Mackintosh for free?!

I don’t follow any influencers because they’re all full of shit. They’ll hype up any old crap as long as they’re paid to do it. Why would I trust anything they have to say?!

Sorry I thought LT was ok, I didn't know loads of them say this.

threecupsofteaminimum · 28/09/2023 21:57

Rich people getting free stuff should be banned anyway, does my head in all these Alexa Chung types swanning about dripping in mega bucks make up and what-have. It is appalling tbh. Of course they won't cos money goes to money. I'll stick to buying only what I need thanks!

checkedcloth · 29/09/2023 05:46

Mumsnet have had a long history of supporting influencers strangely.

There were multiple threads about the ‘instamum’ era which some really good conversations about the impact these individuals had on often nee mothers. The constant suggestion that if you bought expensive clothes, baby equipment or make up you might be a better mother. Terrible.

Anyhow, nothing critical could ever be said about them, it was always closed now by mumsnet. Especially anything about Clemmie Hopper, mother of daughters.
So it’s easy to assume some sort of commercial relationship was in place with them.

Ironically Clemmie Hopper had to abandon her account due to making racists comments.
