DS2 & DDIL know an influencer, she’s not particularly well known, but she gets right on my tits. She’s a proper beggar, totally up her own arse and completely selfish. I can’t stand being in the same room as her, I really can’t.

If you’re looking at someone like Stacey Solomon to influence your parenting, or any part of your life, then you need to give your head a wobble in my opinion.

He is very good in the nursery space and most of my tips on how to propagate seeds are from him or that guy on TV from the Cotswolds, Adam Henson I think. I bet he has sowed lots and lots of seeds. Bet he is a good dad.

Oh good shout, another top mumfluencer. Its the way he sows his wild seeds around.

Charlie Dimmock, another great inspiration. The way she gets saplings to mature into the most wonderful trees is incredible.

I mean, there are plenty of parenting influencers who in a five minute watch can teach you loads about how not to parent, how to risk your child's safety and compromise their online identity and privacy, but I'm guessing thats not the kind of learning you're getting at.

I don't follow any influencers as I don't want to be advertised at and also I don't really get the whole thing, I'm 46!

However, I do follow Louise Thompson on Instagram and I guess she might reckon on herself as a tiny bit of an influencer as part of her media presence as she does promote brands occasionally, I follow her because I liked her years ago on MIC and we both almost died during childbirth and I am inspired sometimes by what she writes.

I appreciate the meme but can’t help thinking there’s an irony to this thread as it looks like it’s trying to subtly sell stuff to MN, just like all those influencers with their undeclared #ads.

Surely MN would be better campaigning against this sort of nonsense - accounts that are taking advantage of vulnerable new parents, often by monetising young children with no chance to consent? There used to be long threads on here about it - along with legal threats from the influencers IIRC! Mother of Daughters’ poor behaviour at least seemed to pop that bubble a bit.

I have as it happens. Almost as much of a nightmare as parenting!

I've never even come across an influencer. I've had the concept explained to me but I wouldn't know how to find one if I wanted one, which I don't.

The whole concept of “influencers” is moronic. Being influenced by some vacuous idiot with a YouTube account and one brain cell, a big gob that never shuts, and no scruples about the source of their income? Nah, no thanks.

An example being g I was in a different area yesterday and went into Asda and saw a blanket which I considered buying a few doe my dogs as it was as nice colour.

I recoiled when I saw Stacey Solomons name plastered over the label.

I like Katy Hessel of the Great Women Artists. She is an articulate and scholarly art historian who tells the story of art (without men) in a really engaging way. She highlights really interesting women artists on her insta, which is a great convo to have with DD about women taking space in a male dominated field. She influences and educates us for sure.

Is that the kind of thing you meant?
