I come to Mumsnet to actively AVOID influencers.

I'm not on a parenting 'journey' nor in a 'parenting space'

I am a parent and a relatively happy one but don't need to label it all.
It's life. Not a journey. I'm not in a space.

None, I'm not thick as shit. As a mature woman in my 60s, the only people who ever influenced me were my lovely parents.

Well, as usual MNHQ understand their audience so well.

I like some of the funny parenting ones and enjoyed The Unmumsy Mum when my eldest was a baby. Carla Freeman and George somebody on Instagram really make me laugh these days. I've had enough of a lot of fashion / style influencers though and am finding that brands using influencers in their super gushy ads can really put me off. There's one brand in particular that I'm thinking of!

My mother, my sisters my aunts, my cousins and my grandmothers have been the only influencers in my life.

I certainly wouldn't have paid heed to any kind of Stacey Solomon types!

I would have thought MN was "anti" influencers.

Influencers aren't providing anything useful in terms of advice, their literally influencing you to buy some product they've been paid to promote.

Bloggers and experts in the field are useful. Like ones who help you understand things like gentle parenting or how to recognise signs of development delays or a parent who loves with neuro diverse children and their journey etc

But influencers? Naaaaaah

My daughter taught me everything I know about parenting. She's the best parental influencer I know. She's 27 now. Still teaches me stuff about being a parent every day even though she no longer lives with me
