What’s on the menu?

We are having slow roasted lamb shoulder with lemon potatoes and a Greek salad - in fond memory of our fabulous summer holiday.

We're going out for dinner & I will have the roast beef I think. Its a v nice restaurant overlooking a river & fields & Sunday dinner there is legendary. Can't wait!

I've had porridge with blackberries & coffee for breakfast

Salad with either hard boiled egg or poached salmon for lunch later

And then..dinner tonight

Pandaandpurple · 24/09/2023 11:33

We’re having roast pork, crackling, roast potatoes and veges for dinner tonight, followed by millionaire shortbreads. Feels like autumn today so a roast is a no-brainer! 🍁🍂

That baked chicken and rice sounds great, may have to try that! We are having roast pork with veg and roasties later, dds will have all the veg but something to replace the pork I expect. Its very autumnal here, so I'm happy with a roast 😄

AngryAndAnxious · 24/09/2023 11:48

I think dinner will be pork fillet in a cream sauce with parmentier potatoes, carrots, tenderstem broccoli and baby corn.
I have just put an apple crumble in the oven using apples I picked off our tree. I just quickly googled the recipe and I have regrets, there seems to be a huge amount of butter in the crumble!

jellytots18 · 24/09/2023 12:18

Bagel with butter for breakfast
Dh making me a sausage baguette for lunch
Roast chicken dinner Smile

Millions of snacks in between. I'm 21 weeks pg and have the appetite of a horse

therealmccoy1234 · 24/09/2023 12:22

Fancy sausages, mash, red cabbage, broccoli and gravy. There's loads of stewed apple in the freezer but no ice cream, custard or cream so unless someone offers to pop to the shop there won't be a crumble for pudding

TeddyFaces · 24/09/2023 12:26

DH is in the kitchen bashing pans as I type.
We're having roast pork with veg with home made roasties and Yorkshire puddings.
I'm currently sharing the crispy hot crackling with the dog. Delicious 😋

dudsville · 24/09/2023 12:33

I'll be snacking on dried peaches, pears, blueberries and cranberries. We've had a few weeks of meals out - special occassion so lots of mini events and over indulgence. So today I've made a Big Salad of chickpeas, spring onion, freshed minced garlic, fresh lemon juice and grated the rind, grated carrot, chopped beetroot, wilted spinach, chopped red pepper, chopped olives, mixed seeds and nuts and salt, pepper and some hummus for additional flavour. Low trans and saturated fat/cholesterol, heart healthy, tasty! It'll also be my lunches for the next few days - think I might leave my colleagues running to open some windows!

Tintackedsea · 24/09/2023 12:43

I think we'll make pasta because the hens are producing lots of eggs. I was thinking I might harvest a lot of the chard and spinach and herbs and mix it with ricotta for filling ravioli or what have you. My cunning plan is that if the kids help me they might actually eat it. But failing which I made a tomato sauce a few days ago that they could have on plain pasta.

I'm aware that much of what I've just written will make lots of people think odfod. But I really like growing and cooking and in my real life I could never actually mention this plan to other people because I would sound like a dick.

Ahhh thanks OP I love threads like this! We're doing the sausage tray bake from The Quick Roasting Tin. Love her books

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 24/09/2023 13:04

Tandoori marinated salmon fillets with mango salsa. Plain basmati rice with it and some sort of steamed green veg, probably green beans or broccoli (or both). Berries to follow, with cream or ice cream. I only buy raspberries and strawberries when the British ones are in season, and this is probably the last time or maybe second last this year when we will have them. I may also make a banana loaf, as we have some sad looking bananas and a lot of eggs.

headcheffer · 24/09/2023 13:06

We had jam on toast for breakfast and lots of tea. We've got Sunday lunch out in a bit, at a lovely pub where the beef is top notch so I'll have that!

DynamicK · 24/09/2023 13:11

I'm making chicken with a jerk seasoning rub with a tray of roasted potatoes and carrots and some greens.

We are going to be having chicken Kievs with garlicky roasted potatoes, peas and sweetcorn 🥰 one of my all time favourite comfort dinners!

Kim82 · 24/09/2023 13:16

We’ve just had McDonald’s for lunch as dh is slightly tender this morning after his night out last night.

I’m making steak pie, mash, veg and gravy for dinner.

UsernameTaken76 · 24/09/2023 13:19

Greggs rolls for breakfast. Bacon for me and sausage for DH. No idea about lunch but dinner will be minted lamb chops from the butchers with roast potatoes, lots of green veg and gravy.
