What’s on the menu?

We are having slow roasted lamb shoulder with lemon potatoes and a Greek salad - in fond memory of our fabulous summer holiday.

Lovely venison joint tonight for us. Gonna Lund some garlic, juniper berries and Rosemary with the pestle and mortar and mix it up with oil as a lovely seasoning, then cook it on a veg trivet with some red wine. Cannot wait.

stayathomer · 24/09/2023 13:23

Roast chicken with veg. Dh is usually the chef so I am terrified but putting my trust in Jamie Oliver as he’s helped me before!!

Mammma91 · 24/09/2023 13:23

You are all making me absolutely starving. These all sound delicious!!! I had a typical Sunday roast last night, was considering a takeaway tonight. But now I want some delicious home cooked food 😭

Cote do boeuf (or however you spell it 😂) with shallots, parmesan roasted parsnips, roast potatoes, cabbage, carrots, chard gratin and gravy. Dd has made brownies for pudding and we have clotted cream for anyone who fancies it.

BeastOfBODMAS · 24/09/2023 13:27

Cauliflower, leek and broccoli cheese. Veggie sausages with it unless I go near a shop with crusty bread.
Cajun salad bowl for lunch with extra for tomorrow.
A beer from a favourite, sadly closed brewery to watch the rugby with later.

And obviously Yorkshire puddings! How could I forget those?! 😱 the best part of any roast.

Redlarge · 24/09/2023 13:29

Im going to make cottage pie stuffed yorkshire puddings with cheese on top and green beans

We're having this crowd-pleaser. https://www.recipetineats.com/oven-baked-chicken-and-rice/
The whole family love it, and it makes brilliant left-overs for lunch tomorrow.

I've saved this, thank you 👍🏼

minipie · 24/09/2023 13:37

I’m making this beef pie

DH and I are feeling less than ideal after a big event out last night, but I made the pie filling on Friday so just need to do the (bought) pastry and shove in the oven. Greens on the side. Feeling slightly pleased with myself for planning ahead.

Family Meat Pie

What's better than the hand held Aussie meat pies? A big fat FAMILY Meat Pie. Slow cooked beef filling, shortcrust base and puff pastry lid. To die for!

Just had our cooker installed in new kitchen and very happy to have a Sunday roast today with beef, Yorkshire's and veg and gravy. Cat will be happy too.

Tryanotheruser · 24/09/2023 13:40

Those thighs look like the skin has been left on. I find chicken thighs with no skin are very dry.

Whichsideoftherock · 24/09/2023 13:45

I’m making an old-fashioned beef casserole with bay leaves, smoked bacon, onions, carrots, celery and red wine. I’m padding it out with large quantities of mash so that it will stretch to make sufficient for x2 meals for four people.

RabbitsRock · 24/09/2023 13:46

Roast pork crackling joint that can be cooked from frozen, roast spuds, roast carrots, broccoli, parsley & thyme stuffing & pork gravy. Unfortunately couldn’t find any applesauce in the fridge ( see other thread). Hope to get really crispy crackling.

DawnInAutumn · 24/09/2023 13:47

Today we are all having different things because DH is vegetarian, I am newly gluten free and dairy free and the dcs desire chicken ramen.

so DH has a mushroom and cheese omelette with baguette, dcs have chicken ramen and I am having Poached salmon with salad.

Prinnny · 24/09/2023 13:50

Roast chicken, stuffing, Yorkshire puds, roast taties, parsnips, broccoli and cauliflower cheese, all homemade by moi whilst watching Hocus Pocus. It’s nearly ready now and I’m considering opening the wine too! Baking cakes later at DD’s request.

Mega autumnal vibes!

treacledan71 · 24/09/2023 13:53

Chicken dinner with all the trimmings. Made extra veg for tomorrow that we will have with sausage or left over chicken. Also made a cottage pie and bulk frozen it. Lots of washing up! That chicken thigh recipe with rice looks lovely.

NatWestPigFamily · 24/09/2023 13:56

DH made us sausage and bacon rolls with French bread. I have a beef and ale casserole in the slow cooker to be served with cheesy mash potatoes and green beans.

SinkingSwim · 24/09/2023 13:57

Roast chicken with all the trimmings, then will bake fairy cakes with toddler DD after!

longtompot · 24/09/2023 14:02

I am making lasagne for dinner and we are having salad and garlic bread with it.

I already have that recipe for family meat pie saved. Is it any good @minipie ? I do find recipe tin eats is my go to for meals. Most have worked though a couple were a bit hit and miss. I do her method for cooking basmati rice now and it is perfect every time.

WilmaJean · 24/09/2023 14:05

Fish cakes, chips and mushy peas tonight!
