GYM leggings - pants or no pants?

SpideyWoman1 · 21/09/2023 11:21

So a quick question for ladies who wear gym leggings.

I usually run outside so don’t give too much thought to a VPL except when I’m racing.

But I’ve been going to the gym more and conscious of my VPL - which I’ve noticed nobody else has? I’m not sure how you can escape a VPL in tight gym leggings. I have some seamless pants which are as close as you can get to not having a VPL but it’s still visible at times.

Are others not wearing any pants?

I appreciate this is a slightly personal question so thanks in advance if you feel comfortable to respond!

I got some seamless Under Armour thongs after seeing how bad my vpl was in a form video. They’re much more comfortable than the thongs of my youth!

If you're worrying about your VPL then you're not gymming properly!

Always pants. Just in case the leggings split.

This!

I just wear whatever pants I’m wearing

it has never crossed my mind to worry about a VPL while working out… I do tend to wear long tops that cover my hips

@Celebrationsnakes Sorry I mean my belly, I need support even though I'm slim

Pants. I don’t care what kind and won’t describe them for the benefit of pervs on the internet but definitely pants.

sadsack78 · 09/11/2023 16:35

Pants. no VPL pants that cover everything. or just some decent coverage pants

I see too many women wearing leggings they have no idea are see-through and show off their thong. I have seen too many strangers' bums at this point.

hollyblueivy · 09/11/2023 16:35

Please wear pants

gotomomo · 09/11/2023 16:35

Modibodi pants as jogging up and down causes me issues!

NorthernSpirit · 09/11/2023 16:35

I wear ‘short’ pants undermine.

I do notice lots of girls wear thongs (they are very noticeable). TBH I can’t be ‘arsed’ picking them out of my arse (to be curse).

Mumaway · 09/11/2023 16:36

The thought of wearing a thing while exercising fills me with sweaty horror. Just embrace the VPL, or maybe try very low leg short type pants?

DoYouAgree · 09/11/2023 16:43

I hate vpl anytime not just at the gym.
I tend to wear cotton thongs but size up so no chafing.

DoYouAgree · 09/11/2023 16:45

Have also tried boxers, for some reason the line round the top of the legs bother me much less than lines down my arse but the crotch always feels a bit strange on boxers possibly I haven't found good ones yet.

Tight gym leggings and a "Smooth Groove" should work! (Sorry can't post a link as I'm in the Far East at present and just getting weird responses but if you Google "Smooth groove for women" it should bring up what may prove ideal.)

I don't use the gym as I have my own equipment at home but I do use one for swimming and wearing tight clothing. I find it's invaluable!

Sandalholidays12 · 09/11/2023 17:11

The way gym leggings are tight anyway... a VPL is the least of your worries. Do you not usually wear a thong anyway. It's a no brainer. I wouldn't feel comfortable without underwear on.

ManateeFair · 09/11/2023 17:20

I just wear my normal knickers, VPL be damned.

I mostly wear longish running vests for exercise, though, so not much of my bum region is really visible anyway.

SouthShore · 09/11/2023 17:31

NameChangeNotReporting · 21/09/2023 11:33

'Ladies' huh.

‘tell me about your knickers….’

gamerchick · 21/09/2023 11:38

Who cares about a VPL? I don't know about anyone else but I don't look at women's arses at the gym.

We sweat enough without removing a layer from our seat area.

exactly ☝

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 09/11/2023 17:34

Chris on a bike - you lot must be young as any running here means a full on Tena lady style pad.

SpideyWoman1 · 21/09/2023 13:36

That depends on what you’re using the gym for surely?

I go 4-5x a week but atleast one session is something like yoga or Pilates to just stretch and feel good/relax.

It’s not all about sweating your tits off. Some sessions will be slow, moving your body to improve your mental health or recover from injury. There’s no rules.

So you go to the gym five times a week and haven’t worked out what underwear to wear, even though you sometimes ‘leak’. Ok.

ttcat37 · 09/11/2023 18:12

Just wear normal big pants if that’s what’s comfy for you? It’s not a mystery that women wear pants. I don’t get what the issue is. I’ve never worn a thong and no way I’d be wearing nothing.

Ballsbaill · 09/11/2023 18:14

I wear knickers. But I also wear decent leggings so you can't see the knickers.

Sweaty Betty Power leggings. You get what you pay for.

nightnurse82 · 09/11/2023 18:22

What's VPL?

dementedpixie · 09/11/2023 18:27

nightnurse82 · 09/11/2023 18:22

What's VPL?

Visible pantie/pants line

AlannaOfTrebond · 09/11/2023 18:33

I'm surprised by the amount of posters that have been so horrified about the idea of going commando under gym leggings.

We had this conversation in my gym a while ago and it was about 50/50 on underwear or not amongst the women.

Vanillatablet · 09/11/2023 19:01

Really big knickers for me, always. The VPL is disguised by the top of the legging band at the top and the natural line between the bum and leg at the bottom, and if they split there is full coverage. The other alternative is a thong, but I find them uncomfortable so would rather go big!

Purplecatshopaholic · 09/11/2023 19:18

I never wear any underwear when wearing gym leggings. Wouldn’t occur to me. Dont want chafing or discomfort (or a VPL!)
