Thread 10 - TalkLair: “The candle flame gutters. Its little pool of light trembles.”

Continuation of previous threads (thread 9).

Although the nights are gradually drawing in, the new lair of JTT escapees is all cosy and homey inside. The hearth is glowing, the walls covered in dubious artwork, books by non-approved authors line the shelves, rugs are down on the floors (and assorted pets curled up on them).

We just won’t mention the gnawed bones of our prey over there in the corner of the cave…

Aww, look at them being all snuggly!

Gonners · 27/09/2023 19:30

I had my knuckles nibbled by a long-haired German Shepherd girl this afternoon. She's only 5 or 6 months old and absolutely full of affection for everyone, but nevertheless I tucked my fingers in before offering her a hand to sniff. Mr G admits he did the same ... with the same gentle nibbling result. I think reading that Joe Biden's dog has now bitten at least 11 people since last October may have made us wary. 😉

Oh dear, really? That’s not a dog you want in a busy place of work. When I read the first reports soon after his inauguration I assumed the dog was unsettled after the house move, but a dog that’s been allowed to bite “at least” 11 people should be put down, imo.

The pictures of the four-legged creatures are such a balm to the soul.

I've had a shit couple of days with all that is going on with the oesophageal part of my body and today is marked on my calendar as "Be grumpy and pissed off. It's allowed." so that's what I've done. Long story short: I have thrush in my oesophagus, this is not unusual for me and why it keeps happening is anyone's guess. Apparently, that's made it difficult to read the biopsies which means that after a two week course of antifungals I have to have another endoscopy for more biopsies from a thrush free oesophagus. In the meantime I've been told that the bearable pain interspersed with a gripping pain which is up there with the worst pain I've known, is because of the thrush which is pure bullshit because that's never happened to me with thrush before. My guess is tumour growth. So at least a fortnight before the next endoscopy (which has to be done in bloody Guilford for their reasons) and then at least another fortnight after that before results. I have no idea why they've can't just remove the tumour through all of this and I will bring that up when I'm in for the endoscopy. Anyway, I've allowed myself a whole day of not moving much which means fewer instances of gripping pain and to be a miserable beeyatch.

In stuff that isn't me, me, me. If anyone hasn't watched the something, something pack of lies on the BBC it's well worth a watch. Thoroughly enjoyable fivie part series.

Gonners · 27/09/2023 20:51

@MavisMcMinty Yep - it's not the same dog, though. This one is "Commander" and has only been there since the end of 2021. His predecessor, "Major", had the same "problem" and was banished from the White House. This suggests to me that perhaps the Bidens should be banned from owning dogs they can't control. Or perhaps give them less military names?

MavisMcMinty · 27/09/2023 20:54

Gosh! That suggests to me that the Bidens are fearful people, as dogs tend to bite from fear or anxiety. Maybe they need less guarding breeds of dog.

MavisMcMinty · 27/09/2023 20:58

How awful for you Mouse. Time your suffering was dealt with. Oesophageal thrush can be painful, or at least exacerbate existing pain. Hopefully they’ve given you industrial strength anti-fungals that will banish it forever, but it can be a sign of your immunity being weakened. x

Britinme · 27/09/2023 21:05

Mega-sympathies to you Mouse. I hope they can deal with it as fast as possible.

duc748 · 27/09/2023 22:17

Arf! 😂

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 27/09/2023 22:18

((Mouse)) Grumpy and pissed off is an entirely reasonable (indeed, understated) reaction to that. I hope the antifungals work fast, and do help with the pain.

Ha, Angelico - v bad, but v funny.

MavisMcMinty · 28/09/2023 00:37

Ha ha! I might have to nick that for the next belligerent teenage TRA who fancies his chances on MN.

Kucinghitam · 28/09/2023 07:46

Oh @MouseMinge my sympathies! It all sounds horrifically painful. I hope the anti-fungals get to work quickly. Flowers

Mouse, that sounds utterly crap, I really hope you get the right treatment soon. Feeling grumpy and pissed off sounds entirely reasonable.

JFC, that's hideous. Who would want to live there?

Kucinghitam · 28/09/2023 09:48

Did you see the post on how much it has been altered in the past decade? Shock

Tricyrtis2022 · 28/09/2023 09:55

Yes, it looked better as an ordinary bungalow, to be honest. Apparently it's also about 5m from a busy dual carriageway. No one in their right mind would want to buy it.

MavisMcMinty · 28/09/2023 11:13

As everyone says on that thread, why have so many tiny bedrooms? Odd place, terrible photos.

SinnerBoy · 28/09/2023 11:29

weaseleyes

I'm in awe of your composition of cat, antler and mirror!

SinnerBoy · 28/09/2023 11:30

MouseMinge

I'm sorry to hear of your continuing woes and wish you a speedy resolution.

SinnerBoy · 28/09/2023 11:31

Cripes, that house is terribly awful, isn't it? I was tickled by the image of the (I presume) owner in the bathroom mirror.

CyanCrystalViolet · 28/09/2023 12:07

((Mouse)) what a rotten time you’ve been having. I really hope the antifungals kick in soon.

artant · 28/09/2023 15:10

Sending good health vibes aplenty your way @MouseMinge - here’s hoping for a speedy and effective resolution. You are allowed to be very grumpy indeed in the meanwhile.

artant · 28/09/2023 15:12

And that house is beyond awful. Also, why so many duplicate pictures? Is it so that you can say “yes, still dreadful” when they come round again?

Architectual atrocities of that nature shouldn’t be allowed in sight of traffic. It must increase the risk of distracted drivers crashing.
