Yes, hysterical. I stand by the word I've used, it's ridiculous on here lately.
I'm a woman, I'm not offended by the term and it's accurate

NeedToThinkOfOne · 30/09/2023 11:06

Blokes changing the tone😂

Thank you for the weekend laugh.

And yet I was a voracious reader as a child because of Enid Blyton. I read virtually everything of hers then worked my way round every classic children's book (E Nesbit, Noel Streatfeild, PL Travers etc) that I could get my hands on and then just anything and everything, Virtually a book a day.
All started by Enid Blyton.

I loved all the Enid Blyton books too in primary school, Famous Five, Malory Towers, St Clare's. Got them all from the local library.
Feel sad my children don't read as much, too distracted by screens although they both like Stephen King books.

DatingDinosaur · 27/11/2023 20:46

Wait. What? So he's not denying saying these derogatory and sexually explicit comments? He's just suing Freemantle for blabbing about it, under the guise of breach of privacy?

So now what? He's effectively bought their silence and the silence of any other team he works with or for and he can be as creepy as he likes safe in the knowledge that nobody's going to report him because it'll cost them a fortune in lawsuits.

Ughh, that's really annoyed me.

Loopylooni · 27/11/2023 21:32

@DatingDinosaur yes, you really saw his true colours. I assume people will still buy his stuff sadly

MrsJPinkman · 28/11/2023 20:46

I don't know much about his books or his stories but why have some people banned them in their houses?

girlfriend44 · 28/11/2023 21:24

He's a creep and a sleazebag and Little Britian was not funny.

I always thought they were alright

Loopylooni · 29/11/2023 04:50

@MrsJPinkman mine are a bit young but school sent over one title and it was really childish and just mean in terms of the characters being rude eg calling someone fat etc. I just felt it was encouraging kids in a negative way so I'd rather opt for other titles.

I’m another who read everything by Enid Blyton and all the classics for children.
i was reading my father’s books on archeology by 10 years old, I read almost anything I could get my hands on. Thor Heyerdahl’s Kon Tiki was the first of dad’s books I read!
I dislike most male comedians, they give me the creeps, and that includes Ken Dodd and Hancock.

Bones101 · 20/12/2025 14:59

You all knew.

noteboko · 20/12/2025 15:57

Yes

BarilynBordeaux · 20/12/2025 16:07

hes always been very quick to push the legal nuke button even when outright caught out (BGT) so this should be interesting.

Twonewcats · 20/12/2025 16:59

It's interesting that there's no articles stating what the allegations are against him. So many of these situations are in all the celeb news segments or gossip things, full of specifics.
Looks like his lawyers are already all over this.

Almahart · 20/12/2025 17:16

Agree @Twonewcats, but I'm really glad he's been named

SabrinaThwaite · 20/12/2025 20:58

The decision to sever ties came after HarperCollins’ former chief executive, Charlie Redmayne, suddenly stepped down in October and was replaced on an interim basis by Kate Elton.

Interesting. I wonder what prompted Charlie Redmayne to quit unexpectedly and for his female successor to give Walliams the boot?

This was a long time coming. A couple of people in publishing were collecting information on him from victims (there were Twitter posts) and an exposé was imminent.

Underminer · 22/12/2025 03:12

There was a lot of non-stories about DW in the press recently, repeated and rehashed stories which often mean something big is coming. Or it is a sign they can’t publish about X because of a super injunction, so they will go on and publish about Y.
