Apparently the biggest news story of the year is going to break over the weekend

It’s all overTwitter, or X as it’s now called. One of the Sunday papers is working on a massive story and all staff weekend leave has been cancelled. Channel 4 is showing an episode of ‘Dispatches’ tomorrow night at 9pm but haven’t said what it’s about and lots of people are putting two and two together and saying it’s in conjunction with the following days papers.

LOL. It's the police that cancel leave, not the papers!

Of course the papers can cancel employee leave, why would it have anything to do with police?

I'm not sure a celeb scandal would be enough for Dispatches unless there was a systemic/institutional issue that aided/abetted in a cover up.

Well we had the China spying story- could it be there’s a bigger fish caught?

there’s been rumours about Boris for a while, and there’s been little explanation about how he afforded his latest house, given he was reportedly worried about money while the PM/had to deliver that shit book at the start of covid to avoid having to give back the advance he’d been given (that funded his most recent divorce).

That email was ... 'interesting'. There weren't any embargoes or non-disclosures around it though so it would be odd that all the rest of the media let the ST and Dispatches scoop them.

Really? Almost 3000 people have just been killed in Morocco, and 11000 confirmed - but possibly up to 30000 - dead in Libya following catastrophic events; as well as all sorts of other things happening in the world, and a breakfast TV presenter's alleged naughtiness is the news story of the year?

I despair of people's priorities these days.

I feel a bit like that, too. Imo celebrity gossip isn't really "news".

But, and none of us know yet, if it is on the scale of Savile for example, then it isn’t just ‘celebrity’ gossip I suppose.
