Apparently the biggest news story of the year is going to break over the weekend

It’s all overTwitter, or X as it’s now called. One of the Sunday papers is working on a massive story and all staff weekend leave has been cancelled. Channel 4 is showing an episode of ‘Dispatches’ tomorrow night at 9pm but haven’t said what it’s about and lots of people are putting two and two together and saying it’s in conjunction with the following days papers.

There are lots of pointless stories about a certain comedian today in The Sun, Mirror, Daily Mail etc. The same thing happened when the Huw Edwards story was breaking - lots of stories in the days prior about his net worth, his career etc etc.

But they may just be publishing these stories for the clicks as many people will be googling his name amid the speculation, of course.

The hype is too great now. Even if Prince William has been bumming Russell brand in the House of Commons whilst Hugh bonneville watches and posts it on pornhub I’m gonna be disappointed

seriously though, I can’t see a 90 minute dispatches special being about just someone getting caught with their pants down or even allegations of sexual harassment/ grooming by an individual. I mean loads of footballers have been arrested for rape and they didn’t make documentaries about them. Either it’s super bad ( child sex ring featuring celebs) or it’s more of a political thing ( Boris and the Russians/ Chinese/ insert other political baddie here).

😂 remember when Hugh B was the subject of a super injunction and rumours were abounding? The leaks said it was about "the finest British actor of his generation" and everyone was "JFC not David Tennant/John Simm/Gandalf/Dumbledore" etc and then when it was revealed it was HB (this was even before Downton so all he ever did was the odd bit of corpsing on Midsomer Murders) everyone was wtf? 🙄

I am starting to think pp might be right, and this is a set up by C4 to demonstrate how rumours start on SM etc and how the public can be manipulated.

I think there may be something in this - but it's a dangerous game as a lot of the speculation about who the programme is about is based on what's already in the public domain. I just think they have to be pretty sure that the celebs people have mentioned on here are squeaky clean if they're going down that route.

The same KGM that got caught calling Steve Baker a cunt? He was right of course and he's great, but he's not infallible.
