My interest in Prince Rupert was sparked in my teenage years when I read Margaret Irwin's novel The Stranger Prince. I think it's still available on the second hand market. She wrote several other novels set in the same time period. I devoured them all as a young teen.

I named another dog after Rupert's sister Sophia (or Sophie), who was the link between the Stuarts and the Hanoverians as the mother of George I.

Rupert Brooke - right back on p1 - some very, ahem, adventurous and forward thinking prose to discover in the right archive; does it for me. As well as the patriotic poetry, which doesn't.

Haven't seen Chekhov mentioned yet. Somehow, I never expected him to be this hot.
