Who floats your boat?

I think Nathaniel Hawthorne (19th century American novelist) is a bit of a dish.

And if we’re going back even further, like a few millennia, then Alexander the Great gets my vote too 😆

That is a lovely story @AntsMarching
Very pleasing to hear a first hand account that he was indeed a really nice guy to go with his drop dead good looks!

I know Julius Caesar was very successful with women, but he doesn’t look very appealing from his statues. Augustus, on the other hand… And said to have been very good looking into his old age.

Totally. Caesar Augustus/Octavius. Massive hottie.

A young Richard Nixon.
He would offer to buy you a coke in the college canteen and then read poetry to you on the quad lawn.

I also came on to say Nikola Tesla! Apparently he found it annoying that people were attracted to him because he wasn't interested in that sort of thing!
My other suggestion is Gustav Mahler. Swoon.

Are we talking old-time film stars or historical figures. Because hello Rupert of the Rhine...

Not sure @KillingMeDeftly - I'd believe it means the actual person.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder for certain. Well more that there's a wide range of features that people find attractive.

Considering about 80% of the those listed so far I wouldn't ever consider good looking. Some I would even think aren't in any shape or form attractive.

BrummieNC · 14/09/2023 08:54

Interesting thread ... they should write a book and make a film about this guy ...

I've always thought Beethoven was quite attractive, in the red scarf portrait especially. In a scowling, intense kind of way.

AgnestaVipers · 14/09/2023 09:55

Lugwig Wittgenstein was attractive.

Here is a young Alfred Lord Tennyson.
In this portrait as a young man at Cambridge you can just imagine knocking about with him and his creative pals and blushing as he passes you yet another deeply passionate poem he has written just for you.
