Where the heck are they?

Competition time.

Husband has a pair of expensive sandals that he only ever wears while on holiday, or on a really hot day while sat in the garden ( so rarely )
Yesterday, we turned the house upside down and inside out looking for them.
So far we have searched...
All the wardrobes.
On top of wardrobes ( he managed to break one doing this! )
All the cupboards.
Suitcases and holdalls.
Under the beds.
The only time they leave the house is in a suitcase when they're packed for a holiday.
So mnetters, help save my sanity with ideas of where the heck they can be please.

Do you have floor length curtains anywhere? Could they have made their way under there?

Under some desk drawers, if he's taken them off as he sat down, and they've shifted along?

If I don’t bring shoes in the house before sunset the fox takes them. Have lost many a pair this way.

The wardrobes are fitted, so no gap between them and the floor. He did manage to pull the cornice off the top of the wardrobes when he stood on the bedroom chair to check on top.
Which promptly clobbered him round the head as it fell.
How I laughed!

Do you have a pond in the garden? Dog picks something up, carries it about for a while and drops it when he has a drink? I've lost a few nylabones over the years and i reckon they're at the bottom of the pond. Happens a lot to my flip flops too, but they float.

Inside his golf bag or tucked in his wellies (if he owns either)?
In the cupboard under the stairs, or wherever you keep the hoover?
Do any of the beds have under the mattress storage?
In the loft??

Inside the lining of suitcase or tucked away in a pocket of a bag?

Under the sofa would be my best bet.

Near exercise equipment (where he's changed into his trainers)?

Under the couch?

A fox done away with them in the middle of the night if they were left out in the garden overnight?

This was my first thought too, and lots of other PPs have suggested since. Is it not a possibility in your area?

In a pub in town on the feet of teen son?

If they are really not anywhere maybe they got picked up with some rubbish and thrown away

He never leaves footwear outside, he always puts it on the shoe rack.
I've never seen a fox around here, however that doesn't mean they're not around obviously.
No garden pond.
Sons have barges for feet, husband takes a size 7.
Really really hoping that I've not thrown them with rubbish, I can't see it, but never say never.
I've even phoned my daughter to ask if she's seen them anywhere...... daughter lives in a completely different city and thinks I've lost the plot 😂

Size 7?…… have they been out away with your own shoes?

With my wash bag which has been missing since I went away just after Christmas.

A fox stole them.

I would look in the garage again. We’ve lost something similar recently after the holiday. I went through house and garage twice - nothing. DH went through the garage - nothing. DH found them a few days ago accidentally when he was moving some stuff, they fall into a bag with other things and we missed them somehow ( I still wonder how tbh).

Underneath the shoe rack if you have one or underneath the stairs hidden underneath or behind something else.

I've checked under the shoe rack. I even pulled it out too. The only thing I found there was an axe.
I don't know how that ended up there!
I don't have a cupboard under the stairs, it's the downstairs loo.
I've decided that tomorrow I'm going to take the house apart to find them.
I'm not going to be beaten by a pair of sandals!

Are the sandals where the axe should've been?

If you don't like the sandals much is it possible you passive-aggressively tidied them away by wrapping them in a plastic bag and hanging it on a hook behind little-used coats I have never done this to some of dh's shoes I loathed , obviously, purely hypothetical guesswork on my part

In the car boot?
Under a seat in the car?
Bottom drawer of desk of he WFH?

@Surely2023IsTheYearForMyRainbowBaby unfortunately not. Although the axe is now in its rightful place.
@ValerieDoonican I liked those sandals, so that theory is out, it's a good theory though.
@ThirtyThrillionThreeTrees I've checked both cars thoroughly. He doesn't work from home.

On a windowsill where he put them to dry out?
With the shoe cleaning stuff after he cleaned them?
Did he take them off before coming in to the house because the soles were messy? So behind a plant pot by the front door?
