Slim women. Do you work at it?

I always thought slim women could just eat whatever they liked naturally. But looking at the eating habits of my slim friends, they don’t seem to eat whatever they like - they are constantly making healthy, low cal choices and I can’t shake the feeling it’s deliberate in order to stay slim, rather than them just actually fancying the lower cal option.

is this your experience? Is this what slim women have to do forever? When did you start doing this and do you find it easier now?

Been slim since mid 20s. I eat ‘normal’ meals, not low calorie etc. but i eat very little in between meals. Other than lunch/dinner and maybe breakfast, I’ll only have fruit. Or maybe a couple of biscuits.

Bit of both really here.

In my 20s I was one of those annoying high metabolism people who could within reason eat what I wanted. Literally never weighed more than 9 stone (and that was after super pigging out phases), was naturally 8 stone 7ish just by eating normally (not restricting myself, just not going on giant food benders all the time). 30s my metabolism started to slow down a bit and I had to be a little more disciplined but still nothing major. I've always had treats. 40s definitely more work. I currently do 5:2 diet and run 3 times per week (one long run and two shorter ones) but let myself have treats on my non fasting days, plenty of chocolates etc, and weigh about 9 stone 2 right now. I'm 5'5 and not curvy, when I do put weight on it tends to go on in the wrong places. In a way I envy women with hourglass shapes who can look better as a 14 than I do as 8-0, if that was me I'd probably embrace it and just enjoy the cakes tbh!

nurse at my health check up when measuring my waist said I wish i had a small waist. She was probably 20 years younger than me. Setting aside the fact that a health professional shouldn’t be commenting on physical appearance unless linked to health, there was no reason why she couldn’t have a smaller waist!

Oh dear, are we now denying that people are all different shapes?

no “we” are saying that she was fat and I’m not but If she wasn’t fat she’d have a smaller waist . I do not care about her weight, she brought attention to mine. Does that make it clearer for you or do you still want to crack on with pretending you don’t understand the point.
