Thank you to the pp who reposted the video but I had already watched it as I said above — it was more that I was trying to find a proper press report. There still doesn’t seem to be one. (I want to know if the man at the end is ok!)

Is it just not even unusual enough to be covered as news? When I google, I see loads of other articles about Birmingham dog attacks from the past several months. Seems really common. Awful

I have also looked for a news story. I don't believe that something as serious as that hasn't been reported or mentioned anywhere in the news, so it is very odd that there is nothing on any of the local media that I can find. Most odd.

This is going to sound odd, but stick with me..that dog isn't acting genuinely aggressive in my not-at-all-expert opinion.

It's playing a fun game (in its own head, in reality yes it's attacking people).

The way it's doing a jump for the arm, after a lollopy waggy tail chase, makes me think the arsehole owner has been doing 'defence training' with it. The 'chase then bite a padded sleeve' type. The dog looks happy and relaxed and confused someone's bashed it. It lets go immediately, which I don't think it would do in an aggressive attack.

This is in no way a defence, more being grateful that it could have been a hell of a lot worse and wasn't. And if I'm right, shows exactly how much of an irresponsible dickhead it's owner is.

I agree, actually. Obviously a terrifying thing to happen and wtf wasn't the dog on a lead, but the dog is wagging it's tail and playing a chase game in its doggy mind.

FictionalCharacter · 10/09/2023 11:51

I agree @Hollyhocksarenotmessy .

saymynamesaymy · 10/09/2023 12:04

Can't believe what I've just watched. That is terrifying ! That girls hand looked like it was hanging off when she ran off.
Jesus Christ it makes me not feel so stupid now when I actively avoid big dogs when I'm with my children
People say you shouldn't project your fears onto your kids but in the case of dog attacks I don't think it's wrong to make you kids weary of certain dogs

saymynamesaymy · 10/09/2023 12:09

I wish I never watched it. Op should put a trigger warning or something in, that was distressing

Thosesummernights · 10/09/2023 12:15

High wagging tail = aggressive mood. Any one who has anything to do with dogs knows this. Please please don’t think a wagging tail means a dog is friendly; it really doesn’t.

This dog was in full on aggression and didn’t have any one particular target in mind. There was no game play here, what you’re watching is natural instinct which is why these does need banning. If that had been a golden lab, it would have been cowering in the corner as soon as it had been stopped. Thank goodness nobody was seriously injured (that we can see).

It says dog attack in the title though? It's pretty obvious what it's about I would have thought.

Alleycatz · 10/09/2023 12:30

I agree with previous posters the dog thinks he is playing a game. It is very calm it chased after people running away so it didn’t feel under threat. This is either a natural play style for the dog or he has been trained in attack.

Don't think it can be recent, petrol prices are visible and it hasn't been 1.48 a litre for quite some time.

saymynamesaymy · 10/09/2023 12:38

@Dwappy that's true. It's just very graphic that's all

Buzzbee7 · 10/09/2023 12:38

It's shocking there is a photo circuling social media of the poor man bitten, his arm has been ripped open and junks bitten from his shoulder.

misssunshine4040 · 10/09/2023 12:49

Absolutely disgusting!! Imagine the fear these people went through!
The police said the owner has been spoken to? They need to be arrested and charged with the injuries their dog inflicted.

The law needs to really come down heavy on those who own these dogs. The responsibility is huge to ensure they are safe to walk in public

Agreed. That isn't typical aggression, that dog has been taught that. Body language is all wrong, the dog is being playful, it thinks its a game. Some moron has been training it to attack like that. People should have to pass tests before buying an animal. IQ tests.

That dog will have to be euthanised for his owners ego and stupidity. Owner should be shot. Alongside the breeder that sold him that poor dog.

WhoWants2Know · 10/09/2023 12:56

Was the owner the guy In Green who first tackled the dog? Why on earth did he then let it go?

I bought some petrol last week and it was 148.

Was this video really taken in the UK? It looks like a third world country.

Stroopwaffels · 10/09/2023 13:00

I can't believe people are defending this as the dog is "playing a game" and saying its body language is not aggressive. Why does that matter? The end result is that it is attacking people.

Poor ickle misunderstood massive aggressive dog and naughty owner. 🙄Never mind the people pulled to the ground and mauled.

Healthandsocialcaremodule · 10/09/2023 13:02

It's in the title. Dog attack.

It's filmed from top deck on a bus.

It's clearly the UK. Two seconds on google maps pinpoints the location as the junction of Bordesley Green and Churchill Road in SE Birmingham, near Heartlands Hospital.

I take it you've never been to Birmingham then. That's what most of it looks like.
Hate it here, absolutely shithole

Well it's only a matter of time at this rate...

AuntieMarys · 10/09/2023 13:10

This morning a small dog ( on a lead) went for me. Ripped my trousers. Owner not bothered in the slightest.
I know where he lives and have reported him.
Fucking irresponsible bastard.
