This is 9 months after the accident that he had while filming Top Gear - and which has stopped all production on the series.

I'm assuming a lot of reconstructive surgeries?

Not a nice way to start a thread about him

AnyFucker · 09/09/2023 09:59

With open looking wounds and dressings like that 9 months on he must still be undergoing plastic surgery. He looks to have lost weight too. There has been very little publicity about this.

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 09/09/2023 09:59

I feel very sorry for him. I'm just shocked by the amount of damage caused.

I rather doubt he reads Mumsnet.

His friends and loved ones might. Where is your empathy?

Agree

AceofPentacles · 09/09/2023 10:01

No wonder the BBC kept it quiet. How awful for him.

Blackisthecolour · 09/09/2023 10:04

He seems like a lovely bloke who has well documented struggles with his body image (previous ED) - I really hope he can overcome this as there's going to be a lot more scrutiny on his injuries now he's 'gone public.'

efeslight · 09/09/2023 10:07

I hope his recovery continues well, hadn't twigged that the scarring could be from reconstructive surgery.
He is such a handsome, energetic man so these photos are difficult to look at

If you believed that you wouldn't have started a thread with such a nasty title.

ToughFuss · 09/09/2023 10:09

Agree that the way this thread is worded is a bit brutal. I feel very sorry for him, as I would anyone who suffered such extensive injuries, particularly to the face. I hope he is being supported and is dealing with this as best as can be hoped. Always had a proper soft spot for him!

fairyfluf · 09/09/2023 10:11

Educate yourself about facial differences and appropriate language to use. Try the changing faces website.

fairyfluf · 09/09/2023 10:11

You could always start a thread to discuss your own face if you like?

Ozgirl75 · 09/09/2023 10:12

I also have a massive soft spot for him, he’s been very open about his struggles with alcohol and mental health and I really feel for him that he’s obviously still going through some very full on facial surgery.
As a former insurance lawyer, as an aside, I can only imagine the horror when someone says “hi, I’ve got another claim from the Top Gear set…..”

35965a · 09/09/2023 10:12

The thread title made me wince. He had a major accident, possibly a lot of surgery over the last 9 months, of course he looks different.

Ozgirl75 · 09/09/2023 10:14

Actually I think this thread should be taken down - ok to discuss as it’s in the news, but imagine if there was a photo of you or your husband or child saying “Jesus, their face!”

IClaudine · 09/09/2023 10:14

OP, ask MN to change the thread title, it is so inappropriate. Better yet, get them to delete the thread.

Dighi · 09/09/2023 10:15

Yes this is a horrible thread. I hope it’s deleted.

SlightlygrumpyBettyswaitress · 09/09/2023 10:15

I've reported, these are pap photos of an injured/recovering person.

Katrinawaves · 09/09/2023 10:15

He’s got open wounds almost certainly from recent surgery or trauma but he is still a very handsome man. When those abrasions heal, he will look absolutely fine. This is not on the same level as Simon Weston or Katie Piper whose looks were totally transformed by their injuries.

Saverage · 09/09/2023 10:16

Agree this should be deleted.

Blancc · 09/09/2023 10:16

I don't think it's necessary to see the wording of the title as brutal or inappropriate.

It's shocking to see the images and a perfectly normal turn of phrase to use spontaneously upon seeing something unexpected or uncomfortable.

Noone's worried that Jesus is a religious term, so why say it's nasty, and swearing is allowed here, so it's a bit rich to say this is too much. Should OP have said, 'Oh my goodness...'?

I agree. It's an absolutely disgusting way to talk about someone's face.

EasternStandard · 09/09/2023 10:17

But poor guy
