Escaped convict - Anyone else slightly fascinated by how he's escaping capture?

I don't know why but this has captured my imagination. Daniel Khalife escaped prison by clinging to the underside of a delivery van. Now I'm wondering when did he let go? Where did he hide? Is it like the fugitive where he hides in a hen house out house and steals a doctor's uniform from a hospital? Where would you hide if you had to? Where do you get food and water and shelter?

I agree with a PP that I suspect much of the media hype is to try and cover the embarrassment of an inmate escaping by claiming he's some kind of highly trained survival expert when he was barely out of trade training for a signals job ffs. Whilst what he did was highly questionable (searching for personal details of military personnel on JPA and the fake bombs) I don't get why they're claiming he's so highly dangerous. He'd gotten away with accessing personnel details inappropriately and it wasn't until the fake bombs (which he surely knew he'd be caught over and they'd do digging) that this was uncovered. So why did he evidently want to be caught? He wanted to be discharged before serving his RoS and didn't think he'd be arrested?

It's interesting that there's an account from a woman who saw him on a night out and claims he was showing off about having £20k in his account, for someone with a keen interest in tech he could easily find a 'buyer' for MoD info online- I suspect that's more likely than being a state sponsored spy, especially to a county his family say he doesn't have particular loyalty to and has only visited when a young child. His colleague said he'd often go camping outside alone at weekends and that he was highly intelligent but a loner. I don't think it's inconceivable that he had a set of clothes on under his chef whites and went for it. Maybe he knows he'll be caught, he was chilling at a train station when he was arrested after they'd been looking for him for a few weeks.

Criminal mastermind or someone chasing notoriety and consequences be damned?

Only if what he did was valuable enough for the Iranians to want to exfiltrate and resettle him there.

Assuming, of course, that - if he was indeed touting his ill-gotten wares in the darker parts of the internet for a buyer - the buyer who presented themselves to him as Iranian was indeed Iranian rather than some other nationality just pretending

What struck me is there’s not one full body image of him released. The most is a shot of his head and shoulders. If police want people to be on the look out, that would be useful, surely?

I don't know why his military background is being played up so much - unless it's an attempt to send a message to others that only the "trained" stand any chance of getting out like he did (which rather begs the question, how did he do it - does it mean there is a security weakness the prison management know about and don't want every prisoner having a go at?)

Has any of the press actually said this is why he escaped, I thought it was musings on this board. Anyone who knows Wandsworth prison knows it's a bit dodgy.

He’s 6ft2, in the videos he looks like he is very toned without a shred of fat on him.

His old school friends are saying stuff like this, it’s all so unserious!

Thanks skwirm. I hadn’t seen that. I would have thought this sort of pic should be more widely published as it gives an indication of his body size. Shame he’s not clothed as it’s distracting.

I know its bad and he shouldnt have been able to escape in this day and age but Im picture him in a stripey suit and hat holding the ball and chain running across the moors while the blood hounds are chasing him.

It's all very Paddington in my mind. I pictured him making marmalade in the prison kitchens.

I worked in that prison until recently, and I really don’t know how he did it. The security in there is quite tight, (but clearly not tight enough.!)
I rarely ever got my bag searched. I was a contractor rather than a prison officer. I could’ve brought anything into the prison quite literally.

Hes a weirdo who served a short time in the Army. Who did he get to aid him and how did he plan this?

How many private air fields are there ? Local to me it has been reported that ours was sealed off and big security signs put up, that was on the local FB

Firstly I would love to know what you know about Wandsworth as it seems from stats to be very unusual. According to inews there were only 3 escapees in the whole UK in the last 3 years.

Secondly he must be a danger in one way or another, either physically or in terms of what he knows or has access to.

I wasn’t really paying much attention to this until they said ‘confirmed sighting’. How? Is it backed up by cctv and if so why hasn’t this been released? If not, how is one sighting confirmed and others aren’t ?

there is so much more to this than is in the media !!
