What’s your smallest fear?

We all know the common biggest fears: Dying, losing loved ones, spiders, etc

But what’s your smallest fear? The type of fear that has no bearing on your life other than being this strange little thing you worry about/dislike?

Mine is fish, and fish tanks. Why? Because there’s no such thing as a clean fish. They swim around in water and form that weird little congealed coating that being in water too long creates, and once they enter a fish tank, that fish tank is never clean again - no matter how hard you try. I hate fish.

I do, however, love sushi

I've never really thought about fish in tanks, but you're right, they are quite dirty.

My small scale fear is having really bad cramp in my foot or leg while I'm driving, the type of agonising cramp that takes your breath away. I get cramp about once a week, normally in the middle of the night and have to jump out of bed and walk around for 10 minutes. As I go back to sleep I think 'What if I was driving?'. Then I don't give it another thought until next time.

Wearing odd socks... even if they're slightly mismatched.
I don't know why, but I really worry what people would think if they saw, and they'd likely not think anything, but there you go.

Bananas. Disgusting things.

dramadealings · 06/09/2023 19:53

My tomato plants wilting because I didn't give them enough water. They seem to keel over at just the mention of a hot day. Tomato plants are very dramatic.

Portobello mushrooms...the thick black hair looking things..ugh

Drews · 06/09/2023 20:14

Being stuck in a portaloo and it tips over with the door down. It hasn't happened yet but it's a worry every time I use those things.

SquashPenguin · 06/09/2023 20:16

Dropping my keys or phone down a drain. Never done it but I get so paranoid and have to hang on to my things if I walk over one.

thistimelastweek · 06/09/2023 20:18

Missing the bin collection. Especially on recycling week cos that bin gets really full.
I'm more sane on non-recycling week cos that bin fills up slowly .
God help us all if the food caddy gets missed !!

TheWayTheLightFalls · 06/09/2023 20:19

One of those freak animal attacks, like a monkey stealing your keys or a squirrel making off with the tenner in your hand. Seems unlikely. Though a friend had an unfortunate incident with a fox and a wallet recently, so perhaps not that far-fetched?

Bettyboobaloo · 06/09/2023 20:21

Skin splitting on my thumbs in cold weather!

hoven · 06/09/2023 20:22

😂😂

@Drews

plehpleh · 06/09/2023 20:24

Toenail bloody fungus. Fungal nails, basically. Technically a "cosmetic" problem but I find it revolting.

LindorDoubleChoc · 06/09/2023 20:27

My piano lessons. Low level anxiety every. single. week.

I did actually see someone do this once. It was on the Kings Road in Chelsea. Smartly dressed woman in a rush parked her sports car, got out, was carrying a bag, her jacket and clipboard with the keys balanced on the clipboard. She bent down to get something else out of the car and the keys slipped off the clipboard straight down into the street drain she had parked over! Poor woman 😱

Spookymormonhelldream · 06/09/2023 20:33

I have a low level constant fear that I will faint in front of a tube/train/traffic.
I have never fainted in my life 😳

ShirleyPhallus · 06/09/2023 20:34

Wearing a maxi dress and a wasp getting stuck up it

ShirleyPhallus · 06/09/2023 20:34

And also being pushed off a tube / train platform

CremeEggThief · 06/09/2023 20:34

Mine is linked to an obsession, but tea towels.
l get so freaked out by the thought of people using tea towels to dry their hands and then using the same on the dishes. 🤢I've seen it happen in many communal kitchens/ staffrooms and it makes me scream and panic on the inside every time!
I don't have any tea towels in my house, just in case any guests would use them in this way...
Which is a very strange small fear, I know!

MexicanDrinkingWorm · 06/09/2023 20:37

Brillo pads. The thought of them with bare hands makes me feel sick, can’t even have them in the house

ToxicPositivity · 06/09/2023 20:38

It would appear to be pedicures, dd is currently doing dhs toenails. Urgh

Crucible · 06/09/2023 20:38

My boss once walked down the street holding his blackberry, he dropped it and it went clean through the bars of the drain, like he'd posted it. It didn't even hit the metal. He was completely thrown. He was attached to it like an extra hand. I had IT get him a new one and all his info on it in record time.

Rowen32 · 06/09/2023 20:40

I had a monkey try to grab my camera!

Falling while ice skating and my fingers being sliced off..
