Shoreditch

Topseyt123 · 04/09/2023 18:49

Los Angeles for me too.

I did enjoy Disneyland and Universal Studios which we had always wanted to visit, but for me there was nothing else to it. It seemed such a shallow place to us. It is Hollywood and theme parks and little else of any substance apart from a few shopping malls.

We had stopped over there for two days on our way to my SIL's wedding in Sydney Australia because we thought that our then 5 year old and 2 year old would enjoy Disneyland and Universal Studios better than they would a city break in the Far East. They did, so all happy but I wouldn't want to go again.

Bondi Beach

I want to love New York and feel like I'm missing something, but it is SO built up, makes London seem like a rural village! Just not for me, I don't get it.

Ditto San Francisco! I've been twice - once in the mid nineties as a solo traveller. I felt it was a bit past its best then. But returned a decade later (hoping for better things) with young family and it felt downright dangerous as well as ruinously expensive

I knew this would be one of the first places to come up! I've been there twice too, but both trips within a year or so of each other (2007 -ish). Obviously I don't learn! Away from the famous views it's grotty as hell.

I was a bit disappointed in Sydney

Hollyhead · 04/09/2023 18:56

New York, too built up made me feel trapped.

GCAcademic · 04/09/2023 18:57

Niagara Falls
New York
Santorini

Goshdarnitgoofy · 04/09/2023 18:57

Anywhere in the uk - Edinburgh, York, nc500, Brighton. Would rather go abroad every time.

Rome.

Graffiti ridden pick pocketing nasty creepy men all in a stinking hot shithole

I quite liked Rome, but I felt like this about Florence. When you've seen one painting you've seen them all.

France

Wow, it’s massive country and very diverse.

PepsiMaxLime · 04/09/2023 18:58

Barbados for me too

SummerIsBack · 04/09/2023 18:59

Barcelona for me, I’ve been twice and it’s just not for me.

Jevwaypock · 04/09/2023 19:00

Wow, it’s massive country and very diverse.

And I have travelled it vastly, it’s over rated in my personal opinion. I know a lot of people like it. A lot of the places people have mentioned are very big also?

Robotalkingrubbish · 04/09/2023 19:01

We did a river Nile cruise in Egypt. I really didn’t enjoy it. Once you’ve seen a temple ruin, you’ve seen them all. I also absolutely hated the way they treat working horses out there. Finally seeing small children begging really upset me.

Yes some people love France, I wouldn’t go that far. 😂

Ha, I said pretty much the same about Florence. Except, it was "seen one painting of the Madonna and Child, seen them all".

greenspaces4peace · 04/09/2023 19:03

hawaii main island.

Thereisnoname · 04/09/2023 19:03

If you go to Naples first then Rome is quite pleasant, speaking from bitter experience.
It was so bad the 'courtyard 'area the hotel was in was locked at night.
