I have to be on Facebook for work, but so many posts annoy me. When I was growing up (a very long time ago, I admit) it was considered wrong to boast. Pride comes before a fall, and all that. Now it's "look at me, look at the wonderful things my child did, look at my fabulous hotel, look at my new dress, look at this wonderful meal I made..'" etc. Gets right on my tits.

It's bonkers to put Christmas decorations up as early as many people do now, and then take them down on Boxing Day or soon after, when the Christmas period itself is only just getting going! But I'm probably showing my age now.

This is one of the few things I disagree with Victoria Coren Mitchell about. I drink my morning coffee from a glass cup, and frequently drink tea from glass mugs. And I'm not going to stop until every southerner and middle-class wannabee-southerner stops saying lar-tay instead of latte.

Yes! Chocolate cake is always dry. Chocolate ice cream is a terrible thing and rum and raisin will always be the best.

Why would southerners stop using their own accent?

Yes! Not a fan of chocolate milk or chocolate ice cream. Happy with vanilla ice cream and strawberry or banana milk.

I'm pretty sure there are a lot of words northerners do not say as the original language intended.

I just find northerners going on about southerners saying things "wrong", which they tend to do a lot, really tiresome and irritating. I guess that could be one of my unpopular opinions!

Totally agree about camping - not my idea of a holiday at all.

It's not about accent, it's about pronunciation of an Italian word. It is definitely not the languid lartay pronounciation.

And I think southerners are generally more snobby about northern accents than the other way round (quite unjustifiably in my view, as some southern accents are awful and yes I know I am an accent snob too).

The idea of cupcakes is more delicious than actual cupcakes.
