OK I'm going to just say it.... gay men are totally over represented in the media and on TV and film in my opinion, both real personalities and fiction characters.

As are all minority groups. You can't watch a drama on TV these days without about half the characters being non-white, in mixed marriages or gay. Sometimes I think they're trying to cram as many minorities as they can into each series and it's getting ridiculous. In the UK, 18% of the population is non-white and 3% are gay (census/ONS statistics), but from watching British TV you'd think it was about 40% for both.

Lol these threads are so predictable. Starts out with "I don't like marmite" and ends with "too many black people on TV". Lighthearted indeed.

Fake lips look utterly hideous!

It should be a criminal offence to refer to one's wife as 'Wifey' or one's husband as 'Hubby'.

And it should extend to Mumsnet with the 'D' in front of everything. 🤢

Hot weather and heatwaves are not nice at all
(Only ok on holiday with an accessible pool and a cold drink!) Not fizzy drinks though as they are just horrible.

And a breeze! I can bear it if I don't have to move at all

IHeartGeneHunt · 06/09/2023 14:15

This was going so well but I see the knobheads have turned up.

Point 1 - maybe some women shouldn't have the vote... ;)

Point 2 - do you ride? I have never seen a person 'ride like an arsehole' on the road. Are there people doing equine acrobatics on public highways? If so, I'm impressed!

Point 3 - I get it, you don't like me. I'm away to sob into my big pillow and then go ride my horse like an arsehole on the motorway 😁

But seriously, and as I said in my previous post, we're all very different and I live and let live x

I don't know you and most definitely haven't formed the opinion of whether I like you or not. I am being generalist - I don't like horse riders who choose to ride on public roads, it's not personal.

As for the point about areseholes riding horses - do you need to perform equine acrobatics to be an arsehole? I don't think so. Does that mean you have to perform acrobatics in a car to be a motoring arsehole?

Your arguments are very poor and very weak. Your passive aggressiveness also has zero impact on me - I find PA to be the lowest form of argument, if you have something to say, just say it?? Life is too short.

LadyMuckingabout · 06/09/2023 14:51

My lighthearted opinion is that it should be illegal to mention Christmas before Guy Fawkes Night (and that’s Guy Fawkes Night or at a push Bonfire Night - not Firework Night to be combined with Halloween Angry ).

Anyway, no Christmas preparations until November 6th. And as for those dismal posters who say in September “everything bought and wrapped!” - how depressing. Magic as crumpled as the wrapping paper by the time the presents are excavated from the back of the stairs cupboard on Christmas Eve.

DappledThings · 06/09/2023 15:01

Not till Advent if I had my way. No wrapping paper, mince pies, Christmas chocolates or any mention of it in the shops until Advent. Except for making Christmas pudding on the traditional 5th Sunday before Christmas.

I was just having a bit of fun 😁 no arguments from me.

Enjoy the rest of the sunshine.

I totally agree with this. How lovely would it be just to have Christmas during advent. In fact Christmas every five years would suit me just fine. :-)

IHeartGeneHunt · 06/09/2023 15:52

I'm fully on board with Christmas once every five years.

After my swim session today - people who do backstroke are bellends.

MarkWithaC · 06/09/2023 17:41

Foo Fighters are a bit rubbish.
Detectorists isn't nearly as wonderful and lovely as everyone says.

WmFnKdSg1234 · 06/09/2023 17:45

Sandy beaches are rubbish, pebble beaches are so much better!

I agree. I was delighted when I discovered Croatia and its rocky/pebbly beaches. So much less messy!

doubleshotcappuccino · 06/09/2023 17:51

IHeartGeneHunt · 06/09/2023 17:51

Detectorists isn't funny or even very entertaining.

Fleabag, see above.

Motherland, ditto.

fulltum · 06/09/2023 18:12

I love it when Christmas stuff appears in shops in the summer!

Camping is a shit holiday. I'd rather not have a holiday than have to put up a tent, sleep in it, do outside and walk a cross a field every time I need a wee, cook my own meals. None of that remotely appeals to me. I'd rather stay at home and have no holiday.

Halloumi is just so Meh. It's not even horrible... at least if it was horrible it would have something about it! It's just bland and rubbery. Complete waste of calories.

pictoosh · 06/09/2023 18:14

Agree about the Foo fighters. They're just okay. They don't deserve the adulation.

fulltum · 06/09/2023 18:15

CassiniG · 05/09/2023 23:50

Marley and me was a load of crap. The dog was cute but the ham acting was dreadful with the unsuitable pairing of Aniston who is wooden and Wilson who looked like he wanted to be anywhere but on that film set.

Mawkish, unbelievable drivel.

I agree but I still cry every time I see it! 😆

I don’t get the Foo Fighters at all. Just a load of shouting

whosaidtha · 06/09/2023 22:16

Theme parks are shit. A waste if time and money!
