Anyone changed back to their winter duvet yet?

Assuming you have one that is

I have my summer one on currently. It's silk and 3-4 tog. Just realised I feel a bit ... chilly

Feels too early to put the winter one back on but may have to tomorrow

How about you?

Still have just a sheet here with a blanket at the foot of the bed to pull up if I get chilly. It has been a bit chilly on a few nights but I still think the 4.5 tog duvet will be too much at the moment. I'll save it for October and maybe pull out the 10.5 tog in December.

megletthesecond · 01/09/2023 08:54

I have my 13.5 on all year round. I just wear thin pyjamas in the summer.

CoteDOpale · 01/09/2023 08:56

Started using a duvet again, yes. I believe it’s a 7.5 tog. Some nights are still a bit warm but it’s nice to be squashy and cosy again!

We don’t use it in the summer, it’s been far too hot. Just a duvet cover without the duvet in it.

I have 3 duvets. A 4 tog for Summer. A 10 tog for Spring and Autumn, that I'm using now and a 13.5 tog for Winter. I save that one and electric blanket until it's really cold.

PrincessPeaches123 · 01/09/2023 09:46

Nearly went into winter mode yesterday but the forecast is good so blanket over summer duvet for now.

No way.

It's going to be 25 degrees next week. We're still sleeping with the window wide open and a fan blowing - DH even had his cooling blanket on a couple of days ago!

Where do you all live that it's cold overnight already?

Lancashire. Mostly rain. And a bit more rain
About 13c overnight at the minute

hiredandsqueak · 01/09/2023 09:53

I must be running on hot as I slept under the sheet, the summer duvet is folded down although I did think this morning I might need to start pulling it up soon. It will have to be really cold for me to put the 10 tog duvet back on.

Well yesterday at 1pm my car temp was reading 13 degrees in rural Somerset, so yes, it is cold.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 01/09/2023 10:02

Nope. Still sleeping with the summer one on and windows open (SW London).

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 01/09/2023 10:19

Currently 13.4°C in NI. And heavy overcast so it's not going to get much warmer.

squashyhat · 01/09/2023 10:35

No duvet at all since May - just a sheet with the fan going most nights. Our bedroom gets afternoon and evening sun so is quite warm. I've added a light blanket the last couple of nights but tomorrow we're off on holiday to countries where it's currently in the low to mid 30s. So no duvet until October!

ElFupacabra · 01/09/2023 10:51

Could not tell you what my duvet is it’s so old. But it stays on the bed all year round 🤷‍♀️

currently trying to work out togs for our toddlers new duvet. Ordered a 4.5 tog but it feels way too thin.

CheersToMe · 01/09/2023 10:55

Only have a 4.5 tog feather & down. If I get chilly I might wear pyjamas. Or chuck a quilt or blanket on top or a sheet under the duvet.

Unlikely though. Heating is off overnight too.

IsadoraQuagmire · 01/09/2023 10:58

I use 15 tog all year and, in the cold weather, an electric blanket AND a hot water bottle.

Peridot1 · 01/09/2023 11:00

@ElFupacabra - 4.5 would be considered a lightweight or summer duvet weight. You might want a higher tog for winter depending on what your toddler sleeps in.

hdbs17 · 01/09/2023 11:02

No, but I have closed the window now.

The winter duvet is a 15 tog down duvet which DH loves but I find way too hot so I don't put it on until the frost arrives.

Our summer is a 10 tog synthetic so that does us for now (we use a sheet during heatwaves).

Sahara123 · 01/09/2023 11:08

@Tassen I’m with you . 4.5 all year round with windows open too ! I love a cold bedroom, can’t stand being hot . And I’m well past menopause which is what people usually comment 🙄

RoseMartha · 01/09/2023 11:09

13.5 all year round. In summer I sleep with window open and less clothes on
In the winter. I have two long hwb and up to three blankets on top of the duvet. Sometimes will wear fleece over pj s as well. Spring and autumn somewhere in between the 2.

I also can not afford the heat on much and never overnight.

Doggymummar · 01/09/2023 11:10

I will tonight. Thermal socks and two hot water bottle did not cut it last night

DappledThings · 01/09/2023 11:12

I don't know what tog my duvet is. I add a blanket in winter and kick it off entirely if it's hot. Far less faff than having a second one to store.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 01/09/2023 08:32

Thirty tog?! I had no idea such a thing existed - where from?

This thread really needs an accompanying map.

John Lewis Oxford Street, it was about 3ft high full of small light feathers.

It was fucking ridiculous 😀

frozendaisy · 01/09/2023 11:18

Oh and sewn in segments so the feathers stay in "their original area"

Probably cost £400 I didn't ask the price I was in "thirty tog" shock, also we had only just met

Where are you?! I wouldn't use all that in freezing temps. I'm in NW Eng and it's FAR from being cold. I'll even be in my sandals until October.

Doggymummar · 01/09/2023 14:17

Brighton. If it falls under 20 degrees in the house I absolutely freeze, always have done. Today thermal socks mohair jumper and thermal leggings. In the conservatory which is 33 degrees. Oh is in shorts and tee shirt.

Ginmonkeyagain · 01/09/2023 14:21

You are wearing thermal leggings and a jumper in 33 degree heat? Are you an actual lizard?
