Anyone changed back to their winter duvet yet?

Assuming you have one that is

I have my summer one on currently. It's silk and 3-4 tog. Just realised I feel a bit ... chilly

Feels too early to put the winter one back on but may have to tomorrow

How about you?

We didn't get as far as putting the summer one one! 10.5 rog all year this year!

gogomoto · 01/09/2023 07:30

Never changed it this year, ours is 10.5

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/09/2023 07:34

If you are in England or Wales, don't do it this weekend! It's going to get significantly warmer next week.

13.5 tog all year round. I like the snug feeling of a thick duvet to sleep with but if it's hot I spoon it rather than sleep under it!

Where does everyone keep extra duvets and blankets. There are six of us I can't imagine where I'd put 5 spare duvets.

Underneath the bottom of the mattress if stuck.

Dontcallmescarface · 01/09/2023 07:39

I never changed the duvet at all this year it's been too cold to put a thinner one on the bed.

Enko · 01/09/2023 07:42

I still have the fan on some nights as too hot. In summer duvet of 4 tog atm dh is in a 10 as he is cold. Will eventually move him to a 15 and me into a 13 but I will likely go to the 19 for a few months first

usernother · 01/09/2023 07:50

God no. I'm still sleeping with only a sheet over me. I hate being hot.

AmberGer · 01/09/2023 07:56

I've considered it. The past week or so it's been pretty cold in my room at night, I do leave window open though. But by early hours I'm a hot mess, sweating profusely. I think peri is a contributing factor. I will stick with my summer quilt for a bit longer.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 01/09/2023 08:08

Nope. No idea what tog mine are, but I'm still plenty warm with my light summer one and the window open, and I live in Cumbria! My feet will start to get cold in bed when it gets a bit cooler than it is now, but I'll wear socks before I think about swapping duvets.

EquallyDetermined · 01/09/2023 08:10

We don't use the winter one most years, 4.5 tog all year round but we add a crocheted blanket on top in winter and do put our electric blanket on the bed. At the moment it is still really warm at night even with the window open so no need.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 01/09/2023 08:11

Still the 4.5, but I did put the electric blanket on last night. 🙂

Ginmonkeyagain · 01/09/2023 08:16

Good god no. It's still 21 degrees in our flat and it is damp but pretty humid in London today.

TBH we don't really have a winter duvet, I just put one of those IKEA Indian cotton bedspreads over the top in winter.

Mr Monkey is lile a small furnace at night though, so that keeps everything warm and toasty.

vjg13 · 01/09/2023 08:20

Still using the 4.5 but thinking about changing to the 9 one.

Toonali8 · 01/09/2023 08:23

No I’m in London and even when it’s been cool it’s still warm.
I will probably change in October

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 01/09/2023 08:32

frozendaisy · 01/09/2023 02:58

We have a summer 3-4 tog
An autumn spring 13 tog
And a winter 30! Thirty tog. H bought this to impress me, he didn't know what tog meant it was according to the very good salesman "big and fluffy" I said "your mum has bought all your duvets hasn't she"

Thirty!
Sweat in Iceland baby!

Thirty tog?! I had no idea such a thing existed - where from?

This thread really needs an accompanying map.

43ontherocksporfavor · 01/09/2023 08:34

Have same duvet all year! It’s going to be hot again next week so no won’t be getting out the top blanket yet( plus I’m 52 🥵

SunnieShine · 01/09/2023 08:35

I put my 13.5 to on a few days ago but think I may have jumped the gun as it gets warmer next week.

So going to swap back for a while

SoupDragon · 01/09/2023 08:36

I never changed from my winter one this year.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 01/09/2023 08:37

I use my winter one on all but the very hottest nights! 13.5 tog

SoupDragon · 01/09/2023 08:37

Clearly you have a different personal thermostat than me 😂

andrainwillmaketheflowersgrow · 01/09/2023 08:38

No way.

It's going to be 25 degrees next week. We're still sleeping with the window wide open and a fan blowing - DH even had his cooling blanket on a couple of days ago!

Where do you all live that it's cold overnight already?

Peridot1 · 01/09/2023 08:41

I changed my bed yesterday and contemplated putting the summer duvet on. But I’ve stuck to the empty duvet cover with a quilt over it.

I actually used the summer weight duvet all last winter with a blanket on top on cold nights.

I will probably put the duvet back on next bed change.

YellowChrysnthemum · 01/09/2023 08:42

I never changed away from it this year...

Natsku · 01/09/2023 08:42

I changed to my autumn one today (I mean I don't have a specific one for autumn, its the one I use in winter too but in winter I use two duvets on top of each other) but I still haven't put the outer window back in the bedroom window yet (I take it out every summer to fit a mosquito screen instead and then keep the window open all the time, but now the inner window is shut but without the outer window its not so insulated) as its not that cold yet at night (Finland), I was still sleeping with the window open until a couple of nights ago.

almondflake · 01/09/2023 08:43

I'm holding off for another week due to the expected heatwave , also partner is going to Cuba next week and due back on the 14th so will definitely need the thicker quilt when they come home .
