Anyone changed back to their winter duvet yet?

Assuming you have one that is

I have my summer one on currently. It's silk and 3-4 tog. Just realised I feel a bit ... chilly

Feels too early to put the winter one back on but may have to tomorrow

How about you?

@SwedishEdith Kent , it felt quite cool when I came upstairs at 10, windows were closed around 7 . I think the dog generates a fair amount of heat .

GarlicGrace · 01/09/2023 02:23

Been using the thicker duvet WITH an electric blanket all 'summer', except the four days that were actually summery!

West Midlands hater of cold, very disappointed in 2023.

frozendaisy · 01/09/2023 02:58

We have a summer 3-4 tog
An autumn spring 13 tog
And a winter 30! Thirty tog. H bought this to impress me, he didn't know what tog meant it was according to the very good salesman "big and fluffy" I said "your mum has bought all your duvets hasn't she"

Thirty!
Sweat in Iceland baby!

I have an old duvet, it lost its label years ago so I have no idea what Tog it is.

im in my birthday suit, windows open, duvet is getting kicked off then pulled over my legs, rinse & repeat.

RejectedAgainandAgain · 01/09/2023 04:24

Contemplating it but it is supposed to warm up a bit next week so I'm holding off for now. I do have the blanket out though in case I get too cold.

JANFEBMAR23 · 01/09/2023 04:25

I'd hold off for another week because next week is supposed to warm and in the 20s 🙂

gillygeey · 01/09/2023 05:34

During the summer I just sleep with a sheet, 2 days ok I reached for a blanket. Not quite sure I'm ready for a duvet yet

gillygeey · 01/09/2023 05:35

I have windows open too & feel the cold but no way could I cope with a heavy duvet when it's hot.

Tumbleweed101 · 01/09/2023 06:35

I normally switch from a 4tog to a 10tog but I'm so hot at night these days I may keep the 4 tog and just get a blanket I can pull on and off.

Willmafrockfit · 01/09/2023 06:36

i only have a bed cover for hot nights, have Not had to use that this year

TheLurpackYears · 01/09/2023 06:40

First year ever I've done the summer/ winter duvet thing. I'm not quite ready to swap from 4 to 7.5 tog, but have added a sturdy wool blanket and very slightly closed the windows.

I cannot change to my winter duvet ( 10.5 tog) until I get it dry cleaned. It’s too big to fit in my washing machine and the two local launderettes have shut recently! I’m struggling to find a place where I can go and use large machines, the washing instructions say do not dry clean or tumble dry.

Luckily I am a hot person so used my summer duvet last year until the really cold spell we had in January - hopefully gives me time to find a new launderette!

Pop it in the bath and stamp about on it and pretend you are working on a vineyard a hundred years ago and need to squash the grapes.

NonMiDispiace · 01/09/2023 06:40

I changed my 2tog duvet + fleece throw for my wool 10.5 tog yesterday and slept really well. It’s the earliest change for me, usually done late September.
I do feel the cold.

Lightningrain · 01/09/2023 06:50

We only have a summer duvet all year but when it’s really hot we take it out and just use the duvet cover as a sheet. The upstairs of our house gets really hot so a duvet is unbearable in summer.

I might add my dressing gown on top of the duvet on the odd really cold winter night but the summer duvet is fine most of the time.

Beezknees · 01/09/2023 07:06

No, my flat is really warm though.

OneRingToRuleThemAll · 01/09/2023 07:07

I plan to change my summer duvet to my spring / autumn duvet today. In the winter they are clipped together to make a mega duvet.

It is wool so I love the heavy feeling of the cold weather duvets.

BoobyDazzler · 01/09/2023 07:15

15 tog all year round here and I’ve just put one of the blankets back on the bed.

Whataretheodds · 01/09/2023 07:16

We don't even have the summer duvet on! (Central london)

VeloVixen · 01/09/2023 07:17

I did last night. Had been freezing the night before. Dh is just under a sheet still.

Scousemousey · 01/09/2023 07:18

Been throwing the blanket on and off summer weight duvet all week.
I did get my fluffy slippers out though.

PatsWoggle · 01/09/2023 07:22

13.5 tog all year round. I like the snug feeling of a thick duvet to sleep with but if it's hot I spoon it rather than sleep under it!

Where does everyone keep extra duvets and blankets. There are six of us I can't imagine where I'd put 5 spare duvets.

caramond · 01/09/2023 07:23

Definitely not, next week's weather forecast is around 25C for most of the week.

BookHereNoFee · 01/09/2023 07:26

Just swapped my 4 tog to 10 tog last weekend.
As it gets even colder (usually November time) I'll add the 4 tog on as well as they come as a Velcroed set.

Jennalong · 01/09/2023 07:26

Changed ours about a month ago.
Dh is suggesting we start using our electric blanket.
need to tell him I chucked it out beginning of summer

Vettrianofan · 01/09/2023 07:28

Winter duvet has never been off🤣
