And can you estimate how wealthy they are?

Nugg · 27/08/2023 23:29

My mums partner and roughly yes.

Namechangedforthis25 · 27/08/2023 23:30

Op are you asking how much we think they have

PTSDBarbiegirl · 27/08/2023 23:30

100's of millions, all the trappings. Incredibly nice, clever person who came from exceedingly humble background and was set on making it big.

smilesup · 27/08/2023 23:30

Including the house the own it's probably my sister as they live in London and bout a 3 bed house about 25 years ago which is probably now worth nearly £900k.

lightinthebox · 27/08/2023 23:32

Why?

Richmondgal · 27/08/2023 23:35

Friend who sold a business for 90 million

londonmummy1966 · 27/08/2023 23:37

Several billion including a big tranche of Manhattan and I know exactly what they're worth

gwenneh · 27/08/2023 23:37

Another rider at the yard I'm on, and according to their Wikipedia article their net wealth is in the mid £500 million range. Their home & lifestyle reflects it, they're super generous and sit on the board of multiple charities, etc. as you'd expect.

Really lovely person. Nice horse, too.

Namechangedforthis25 · 27/08/2023 23:46

In London - Quite a few people who are multimillionaires - entrepreneurs from uni, former colleagues who left and did something else

can’t say I know of anyone with hundreds of millions or billions but I doubt many people do.

chariotspades · 27/08/2023 23:46

Are they famous?

Are they famous?

Enough to be publicly reported on at times in terms of career or charity work, but not as a household name.

I'd have had no idea who this person was if I hadn't had to look up their address for a party.

Are they famous?

One entrepreneur I know has had media coverage as has a famous investor in their company

And another has been front page of a broadsheet newspaper

so famous in their circles

scoobydoo1971 · 28/08/2023 00:10

Me and my brother are the richest people I know in our family and friends circle(s). I have met many work colleagues who come from vast family wealth (usually from the Middle East), and my brother meets similar from China. They have mind-blowing empires running into £10m+. I know their wealth through self reporting in the course of conversation, or due to knowing about their family lineage. Our money is as a result of inheritance, business ventures and salary from our careers. Apart from the house being a bit of a clue, I drive an 8 year old scratched up modest car, waddle around in Primark leggings and none of my personal shopping habits project an image of being wealthy. He is the same *minus leggings, although his job normally attracts a high salary so I suppose people might assume he had a few quid under the bed. I have met some people who you would think were rich from their cars, property, flash holidays and lifestyle. I work with a wide range of business operators from all walks of life, and sometimes uncover their true financial position from our contact. I am shocked by the spending habits of some people who are up to their necks in debt paying for it.

Gnomegnomegnome · 28/08/2023 00:11

I don’t know. I don’t discuss money.

PTSDBarbiegirl · 28/08/2023 00:21

Yes they are famous in America and in the UK but not for the same things.

PToosher · 28/08/2023 00:22

Famous person. She's allegedly a billionaire.

thaegumathteth · 28/08/2023 00:25

One of my siblings. Multi millionaire - don't know how many millions. I'd take a wild guess and say 10/12?

Namechangedforthis25 · 28/08/2023 07:37

to be fair our firm advises companies but also family offices - so lords, sheikhs and uhnws

of course many of them have hundreds of millions if not billions

Florenceatemycake · 28/08/2023 07:55

Hedge funder. I'd estimate they're worth hundreds of millions of pounds.

ThisOldThang · 28/08/2023 08:05

A friend of a friend sold out of some companies for £120 million during the COVID tech boom.

ImGoingThroughChanges · 28/08/2023 08:10

The lady across the road. She sold the land behind her house for €9 million. I wish we’d made friends 😂

Spendonsend · 28/08/2023 08:20

I dont really know as debts and lifestyle choices can hide all sorts.

However, at a guess I have a relative in a 3 million pound house, with three children in boarding school, they take around 5 holidays a year and have two other properties. They have around 5 cars and are members of london clubs etc. I assume they have pensiins, savings and investments too.

I cant guess what this is in 'wealth' though. Im imaging somewhere in the 6-7 million mark of stuff and then earned income on top.

Beezknees · 28/08/2023 08:25

I don't know anyone wealthy. I know people who are "comfortable" (mortgage paid off, good private pensions) but I don't know anyone very wealthy. I definitely don't know any millionaires.
