Have seen a few posts today that have 'edited' at the bottom. I've never seen this before and I've been here years! It doesn't state why it's been edited so am curious.

Is it a new thing?

New edit function so you can edit spelling mistakes etc

Doggymummar · 23/08/2023 15:48

Finally an edit button!

cariadlet · 23/08/2023 15:57

Dies it work on the app?

cariadlet · 23/08/2023 15:58

No. Apparently not. 😕

Runnersandtoms · 23/08/2023 15:59

Editing? How exciting.... Oh I edited it!

Trevorton · 23/08/2023 16:00

MN released this feature today at about 9.30 and posted in site stuff. I must admit though I noticed before I saw their post, was a weird and wonderful feeling seeing an edit in a post!

Does not work in app yet, also there is only about a 10 min window for you to edit and then you can't anymore. So it is purely for fixing spelling mistakes etc rather than going back and rehashing everything you originally said.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 23/08/2023 16:03

Ooh, it's quite exciting!

Boujibroke · 23/08/2023 16:07

Testing Testing 1 2 3 😁

It worked 🥳

Zebedee55 · 23/08/2023 16:10

Oh well good idea.

cariadlet · 23/08/2023 16:33

I hope it comes out on the app soon.

10 minute window is a good idea. You can fix the typos you notice as soon as you have posted but nobody can go back and make substantive changes if they don't like the replies that they get.

fearfuloffluff · 23/08/2023 16:33

Is it a thing where you need premium membership

no it's not

Why don't they call it mumbership anyway

Three times then. Wouldn't let me do a fourth.

I know that everyone has been asking for an edit button since forever and I have no strong feelings either way but for all those saying "thank goodness I can edit my typos", you can already do that by using "preview" before you hit the post button.

More interestingly, the "report" function now has an option to report an "inappropriate edit" which I guess would be useful if a poster tries to significantly change the facts (although I believe that the edit function only works for a limited time so an OP can't come back and edit the facts once they have seen that the thread isn't going their way).

petridishmystery · 23/08/2023 16:53

Hopefully this will cut down on the amount of threads that get derailed by a typo…as long as the poster notices within the ten minute window!

Sausagesandpeas · 23/08/2023 16:53

I can’t find it - ooh I can
