Looking at the cost of getting to a friend’s house for dinner. It’s three changes on the tube and roughly £10 for two, takes 40 minutes. A taxi is £15 door to door and takes 45 minutes.

Which would you take?

Tube. Better for the environment.

bryceQ · 18/08/2023 20:02

Taxi. No brainer 😂

FadedRed · 18/08/2023 20:02

Taxi.

FadeAwayAndRadiate · 18/08/2023 20:03

Taxi. 100%.

BitchImTheSecretIngredient · 18/08/2023 20:03

Taxi

LAHallucinations · 18/08/2023 20:03

Tube. Cheaper and not any slower.

Hbh17 · 18/08/2023 20:03

The 3 changes would be annoying and a bit if a faff, so probably taxi.

PollyAmour · 18/08/2023 20:03

Taxi 🚖

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 18/08/2023 20:03

Tube (and then 5 mins I to your journey you'll wish you'd taken a taxi!)

calmdoon · 18/08/2023 20:03

taxi

ScruffGin · 18/08/2023 20:03

Surely a 45 minute journey would cost more than £15....? But if not, taxi!

Soubriquet · 18/08/2023 20:04

Taxi. £5 isn’t such a big gap.

continentallentil · 18/08/2023 20:05

Taxi probably

But certainly on the way back

What 45 min ride costs 15 quid though?!

purser25 · 18/08/2023 20:06

A 45 minute journey is probably more than £15 would think about £25 to £30

CuriositysCat · 18/08/2023 20:09

Tube. Better for the environment and I like people watching. It’s a novelty for me though as I live rurally - might feel differently if I did it regularly.

Zipsilon · 18/08/2023 20:10

Uber not a taxi for those asking about price

Tube

Delatron · 18/08/2023 20:13

Taxi as 3 changes is a faff. If it was direct then would get the tube.

With 3 changes there’s no guarantee of the time it would take as you’d need to wait each time too? So could be longer than 40 mins. Plus you need to walk to the tube then to the house! Taxi is door to door.

Olika · 18/08/2023 20:13

Taxi

coxesorangepippin · 18/08/2023 20:14

Taxi/Uber whatever

fireflyloo · 18/08/2023 20:14

Taxi due to minimal difference in price and less faff.

LoveThisUsername · 18/08/2023 20:17

Taxi.

Given a choice I'd always get a taxi rather than public transport, even if pt was free.

Testina · 18/08/2023 20:17

How are you getting back? Cos £10 tubecsounds like an all day ticket, but that taxi is one way. I’m also surprised that even Uber is offering £15 for a 45 minute ride!

I’m also surprised by 4 tubes! I’d have thought most places were 2 changes - 1 train to the line that will link you to line you need, so 3 tubes total.

Testina · 18/08/2023 20:18

I would tip if I was only paying £15 for 45 minutes. So it wouldn’t be £15 vs £10 for me.
