BarelyLiterate · 18/08/2023 13:12

Lucy Letby has been convicted of the murder of seven babies and the attempted murder of six more.

My thoughts are with the families of the victims.

As a mum of a premature baby, I trusted the nurses in nicu so much. I feel heartbroken for the parents and for her colleagues.

She did appear for some. Apparently it's taken several days

Oh... How gracious of her... I'm sure the length on the the trial has been most inconvenient for her

Mojodojocasahaus · 18/08/2023 13:29

Me too @MansfieldLark I still remember their names and how kind they were. I trusted them implicitly.

Same, it's frightening

cancan678 · 18/08/2023 13:30

I wasn't excusing her at all. Just saying she was there for some not others. I agree she should be made to be there for sentencing

DysonSpheres · 18/08/2023 13:30

Having followed the case on the threads I'm not confident in this judgement.

viques · 18/08/2023 13:30

Hard to get my head around it. Poor families, to have had to live through their personal tragedies, and then cope with a long and very emotional trial.I hope they have some relief at the verdict and are able to start their grieving for their babies.

I feel sorry for her colleagues too, they lived under suspicion and had to deal with terrible events in a professional way.

She has left a wake of misery and pain behind her, but is clearly herself suffering from severe mental illness, where the heck will they imprison her for the rest of her life.

Tiddlywinks63 · 18/08/2023 13:30

It’s beyond my comprehension why she did this, evil personified.
May she live in hell for the rest of her life.
Management need to be brought to book for not responding to concerns, their lack of action.
My heart goes out to those poor parents and helpless babies.

Zebedee55 · 18/08/2023 13:30

There needs to be an enquiry into this - the hospital seemed to ignore all concerns, from doctors and nurses.

They even apologised to Letby for accusations that had been made.😡

CantGetABreak · 18/08/2023 13:27

It did seem too coincidental to be anything else. I wonder if she has mental health issues - not that it in anyway excuses it! I just struggle to see how / why she would do this otherwise and she seems so genuinely to oscillate between self loathing and believing that she's blameless. Bizarre. Poor poor parents.

Of course she has mental health problems. Any serial killer will have. I would absolutely love to see her psych reports. How did she get this way? And to be in constant denial...

LookItsMeAgain · 18/08/2023 13:31

I can't imagine the pain every single time her name is mentioned (and it'll get mentioned a lot today) to the families of the bereaved.

Shocking how the whistleblowing took so long and that no one was believing at the time the doctors and other medical staff. Even so far as the paediatric consultants having to apologise to her for alleged bullying. They must feel vindicated in their beliefs that they held about her.

If I were them, I'd be getting legal advice about having to do that - legally sign letters apologising when they had nothing to apologise to her for.

Friggingfrog · 18/08/2023 13:32

absolute sicko. When will the sentencing be? I hope she gets the longest sentence possible - she should never get out

Towst · 18/08/2023 13:32

Mischance · 18/08/2023 13:25

The scariest thing is how long it went unnoticed.

It didn't. Apparently quite a few consultants recognised a pattern but nothing came of it.

HaveYouHeardOfARoadAtlas · 18/08/2023 13:33

Just seen, wow. How awful. Another Beverley Allit then.

Anonymouslyposting · 18/08/2023 13:33

Whole life order coming surely.

Absolutely terrifying, you are just so so vulnerable with medical professionals even as an adult, as a tiny baby it’s just horrifying.

Clefable · 18/08/2023 13:34

The BBC is now running interviews with parents and colleagues. Harrowing stuff

sqirrelfriends · 18/08/2023 13:35

Honestly this terrifies me, she just seems so normal and I would never expect something so twisted and evil from a person like her.

I really feel for those families right now, and also those who suspect she may have played a part in their child’s death, I hope they can find some closure soon.

Jacopo · 18/08/2023 13:35

They need to change the law so that criminals are forced to be in the dock for verdicts and sentencing.

the80sweregreat · 18/08/2023 13:35

The sad thing is I bet the managers will rally around those in the frame , pay them off and it'll all be a total whitewash.

Elderflower14 · 18/08/2023 13:35

I'm so glad the murderous bitch has been found guilty. My eldest son was born prematurely and died at two hours old so I have found listening and watching the case unfold very difficult... The cowardly creature wouldn't even go into the dock to hear the verdict. I am fairly confident that she will never be released and I hope her life is made absolute hell in prison. 😡 😡 😡 😡 😡

So glad she has been found guilty.

She's innocent in those smiley photos and it just seemed so strange. But in the newly released ones and hearing all the information she's definitely guilty.

I can't even imagine how those families are feeling. Absolutely heartbreaking. How someone could possibly do what she's done is beyond me.

I seriously hope she gets life.

*looks innocent

Beaverbridge · 18/08/2023 13:36

Horrendous, those poor wee babies.

Breaking on Sky News now.
Letby is the most prolific child killer in U.K. legal history.
Police are now looking into the deaths of several other children.

Unthinkable crimes.

I hope she burns in hell.
