Does anyone else love a Premier Inn?

Staying at a Premier Inn with the dc for one night and I do bloody love them! You always know exactly what you're going to get (helpful with sen children), the breakfast is cheap and filling, comfy beds and we've always found the staff to be helpful amd friendly. My only gripe would be the air con and sealed windows which always feels stuffy as I like to open windows at home. The TV is also extremely slow when changing channels but we all our various devices with us. I know they are the bargain basement of hotels but I always enjoy staying here. Perhaps I'm just easily pleased?

We love them too! My 7 year old loves the breakfast, he hasn't found out that you can actually just go there for breakfast without staying - I'm hoping to keep that from him for a while yet! 🤣

Purplerain0505 · 17/08/2023 08:49

I’m quite happy to stay in them but they’re so expensive for what they are! I usually find much nicer hotels for less money.

ThisIsMyHappyFacee · 17/08/2023 08:52

Me! We're off to one in Poole Dorset today 😊

Always in London! Hubs too

FloweryName · 17/08/2023 08:53

I love a Premier Inn breakfast!

TableA · 17/08/2023 08:54

I don't dislike them and I agree, at the budget end it's good to know somewhere will be "reliable" but I've booked twice since Covid and they're becoming vvv expensive!

AtomicBlondeRose · 17/08/2023 08:54

Yes, with the kids they’re spot on. The breakfasts especially - if I’m alone with 2 Dc we all get breakfast for £10 which is a bargain. They are getting expensive in some areas but I’ve also had some cheaper nights recently, if you’re ok with staying on the edge of town etc. Paying £200/night in central London hurt but it was still a great location and a good stay.

user76541055773 · 17/08/2023 08:55

Yes!

I used to get laughed at at work back when we travelled a lot. Everyone would be staying at the Hilton for £200 per night, but I’d be off to the Premier Inn because it was nicer.

TitInATrance · 17/08/2023 08:57

I cannot bear the sealed windows and won’t stay in a room that has them. If I’ve found one with opening windows it’s been great.

Coronationstation · 17/08/2023 08:57

Oh yes! Although I agree about the windows. It seems to only be the newer ones that don’t have opening windows and I agree that the prices have really gone up…..£110 on the edge of a retail park on a Tuesday evening!!

Quisquam · 17/08/2023 08:57

I wouldn’t say they are the bargain basement of hotels! We’ve spent years, staying in the budget to mid range budget hotels around the country, seeing DC.

I’ve found Campanile, Ibis, Britannia and Travelodge can be cheaper on the whole. We’ve also stayed in Holiday Inn Express and independent hotels a fair few times.

Ime, Premier Inn has the best bedrooms, facilities and breakfast of all of them. I love them for the breakfast!

Other chains are better, with swimming pools, gyms, etc - but they are more expensive!

Owjrbvr · 17/08/2023 08:59

I don’t generally consider that they are that cheap but they are reliably decent

LaDeeDa123 · 17/08/2023 09:00

Love a Premier Inn. Excellent quality for the price.

lemonyellows · 17/08/2023 09:01

We love them too. Kids love the breakfasts but I find there isn't as much choice anymore as there used to be. But can't knock it

The one we often stay in near family doesn't have air conditioning and even though the windows open, the rooms can be hot. We often take a tower fan if we have room in the car.

Ohmylovejune · 17/08/2023 09:02

They are the five star of budget hotel brands. My favourite choice but the prices can be quite topsy now.

I also like reliably knowing what you are going to get.

DresdenDoll · 17/08/2023 09:03

Yes! Plymouth Sutton Harbour has opening windows. We all enjoyed the breakfast and DD said it was the best hotel she's ever stayed in.

scrivette · 17/08/2023 09:06

I agree the DC and I love a Premier Inn and Breakfast. We might go next week for a couple of nights.

There is one near me and we often go for breakfast as it's in the nice pub next door to the hotel. Their children eat breakfast free means it's great value.

user1477391263 · 17/08/2023 09:07

Love a Premier Inn, and the staff have always been nice whenever I have stayed. Always reliably good and just what you need. I spent some time backpacking in my 20s and stayed in some right flea pits, disused student dives, sleeping on towels spread out on people’s floors etc etc, so a “basic” inexpensive hotel always feels luxurious to me!

Packageholiday · 17/08/2023 09:07

I used too and could just about tolerate the sealed windows until we got to a relatively brand new one by the coast.

After yha it was our treat.

Unfortunately rhe room had not been cleaned... Ok not big issue it happens but when they said they would clean it they didn't. We spent afternoon /early evening out and came baci to nothing been done.

Worse they didn't really bother or care no apology and the mattress topper is what shocked me.
It was covered in pubes and they said they don't change toppers? And didn't have a spare one 🙄.

I couldn't belive it.

They also made dh feel really bad by making a huge issue of not changing the room with him in it even though they had had several hours previously to do it.

Over all it was so appalling, so amateur

. So ridiculous with me explain why sand reom previous guest on bathroom's floor, bed not re done, no fresh topper. And all in stale smelling sir put me off.

Ruined our last days of holidays and never again

Packageholiday · 17/08/2023 09:08

Oh yes and I saw a lady dragging her old manky faux fur coat thru the breakfast. J

TheYadaYada · 17/08/2023 09:08

My husband and I stayed in one recently as our son was having a party at home and we needed to not be there!

What can I say? It was cheap and cheerful (but not that cheap at £137 for one night). The bed was comfy. The view was, I’d imagine, similar to that of a prison cell. The bathroom was tiny but clean and had a small and fairly rubbish shower.

It was OK if a tad depressing and we could not wait to escape in the morning! We did not have breakfast there.

DarkPsy · 17/08/2023 09:09

Were currently at the Gatwick one and it was £99 for the night which is not bad considering the location. The Newquay one was £60 I think.

The breakfast is bloody lovely! Dd is usually painfully shy and won't help herself to food or ask other adults for things. Here, she grabs a plate and loads it up all by herself. Even went back for seconds!

The Hub one in Edinburgh was great, really quiet even on a busy street and for Edinburgh, not stupid expensive. The one we stayed in in Manchester last year was tired and creaky.

cakeorwine · 17/08/2023 09:09

We have an equivalent in France we use.
Premiere Classe

Usually found at the entrance to town or city. Near Buffalo Grill and Camponile Hotels.

They normally look the same. Prefabricated. Double bed and a bunk bed. Plastic toilet and shower cubicle. You enter from the outside.

Reception and breakfast area - all the same with croissants, toast and coffee.

They work. Love them for 1 night stops. We did do 2 nights in one once.

hygieneversusplanet · 17/08/2023 09:11

I am happy to use a good basic chain hotel like this. However, the last time I stayed in one the windows were sealed shut and I couldn't turn up the air con beyond a certain level. I was SO HOT. Hardly slept a wink!
