Does anyone else love a Premier Inn?

Staying at a Premier Inn with the dc for one night and I do bloody love them! You always know exactly what you're going to get (helpful with sen children), the breakfast is cheap and filling, comfy beds and we've always found the staff to be helpful amd friendly. My only gripe would be the air con and sealed windows which always feels stuffy as I like to open windows at home. The TV is also extremely slow when changing channels but we all our various devices with us. I know they are the bargain basement of hotels but I always enjoy staying here. Perhaps I'm just easily pleased?

Me! I love them so much I just had a Premier Inn holiday. On my own!. Left OH at home with the dog and drove round nice bits of the country, visiting National Trust places and stayed in a different PI each night. Had a lovely bath and watched telly or read my books in a big comfy bed. Then scoffed my face on the brekkies in the morning. Wasn’t too expensive since I avoided weekends and bought sandwiches/snacks from local supermarkets. Can’t wait till my next one!!

DD likes to travel but is autistic so staying at premier Inns is brilliant as they always look the same and she knows what to expect.

London Stratford is our favourite with Richmond being 2nd.
The food at the one we stayed in in Glasgow was terrible which was a shame.

I love staying in them so much we bought the mattress brand they use. Big mistake. Turns out they changed from hypnos to silent night at the beginning of the year. The mattress is so uncomfortable we've given up on it, like sleeping on concrete!!

London Stratford is my favourite London one, with Southwark my second. Stayed in the Southwark one loads.

They’re more expensive now, but I’d still choose them for
just one night. I did find one recently where the king size bef wasn’t guaranteed - it was in Liverpool, so we had to,find another. TBH the bed is the main reason I choose a P Inn. Too many small, independent hotels still only offer standard doubles, which I just can’t share with dh any more - they feel so cramped.

Same here (I except I bought mine last year when Premier Inn were still using Hypnos mattresses as I checked the ones I was sleeping on before I ordered). The one they supply to home users is nothing like the ones they use on their beds. I was so disappointed and no option to return once slept on unless faulty.
I stayed in a Premier Inn at the weekend and the bed was soooo comfy. Checked and it was Hypnos so goodness knows what they sent us but when we got home and into bed it was nothing like the hotel bed we slept in before!

That's interesting about the mattresses. I was in Stratford in July and it was as fab and high and hard as ever, but on Monday at Gatwick it was much softer and felt less firm.

I’m quite happy to stay in them but they’re so expensive for what they are! I usually find much nicer hotels for less money.

Where where !!

Heartbreaktuna · 18/08/2023 10:58

@fartfacenotfatface that actually gives me some comfort to know that they've always sold duff mattresses!

the80sweregreat · 18/08/2023 11:00

I find them fine !
They used to be cheaper , but they are still good value and at least you get a kettle etc ( unlike our hotel abroad who wanted 10 euros and provided nothing !)

They have fairly recently switched mattress suppliers from Hypnos to Silentnight. Many PIs still have older stock until they reach their natural replacement date. I always lift the sheets and check to see what I'm sleeping on!

I love them too! I stayed at one in Eastbourne 2 years ago because it was reasonably priced and in the town centre, which was important to me as I don't drive. I liked it so much that I booked one on the Isle of Wight last year. You know exactly what you're getting,no worries about uncomfortable beds or grotty bathrooms. The staff are always friendly and helpful too. And the breakfasts....😍

StillWantingADog · 18/08/2023 12:19

I don’t love them but there is a certain familiarity that makes them a good choice for families and it’s usually the best value choice in town if you want four of you in the same room.

stayed in 3 this year and experience very mixed

  1. Generally excellent but very expensive (London). Also check in was absolute chaos at 3pm due to rooms not being ready.
  2. was fine but room very noisy due to being next to a huge kitchen extractor fan. Complained (mildly) and got full refund which impressed me.
  3. Room was fine but the service in the restaurant was awful. Took 2 hours to get fed.

So not reliably good.

LivStanshall · 18/08/2023 12:35

They’ve got really expensive, hate the sealed windows and air con and loathe the decor, it is so depressing. Even if they varied the colour in some rooms it would make a huge difference. TVs are awful as well. Beds are good, bathrooms good, breakfasts good.

Comefromaway · 18/08/2023 12:40

I love a Premier Inn.

Am staying in one tomorrow.

WarmSausageTea · 18/08/2023 14:28

Have just tried to check in at one; £10 surcharge for accessing the room 35 minutes early. Fine, their prerogative to have the charge, but it’s mine to sit and wait in reception until 3, and not pay it, nor pay another penny for anything else here. The Ryanair of hotel chains.

Comefromaway · 18/08/2023 14:31

All hotels charge for early check in.

NeedToKnow101 · 18/08/2023 15:04

Stayed in a lovely one in Berlin. And the windows opened.

hennaoj · 18/08/2023 16:01

I've always found them to be clean but don't tend to use them now as we have a dog and they aren't dog friendly. The beds are always far too hard, I don't know why people think their beds are good.

SgtPercyTwentyman · 18/08/2023 16:04

Best of the budget hotel groups IMO but not as good as they were.

HandlebarLadyTash · 18/08/2023 16:07

I used to like them but finding other budget hotels are cheaper.

CeriB82 · 18/08/2023 16:29

I love them too.
Good sleep, smashing duvet (gonna buy one!)
love sitting in the bar with a glass of Mud House, wandering why others are there.

prembroke · 18/08/2023 16:39

Same here. I don't live in the UK but I visit almost every year and always stay in a Premier Inn

Buttercup198 · 01/12/2024 01:59

Crap for money used to be good money now stay in better hotels for price

FuckMeUpFlorida · 01/12/2024 02:16

Love a Premier Inn! The one located near T5 is good value with a local bus you can jump on for free to get to the terminal. The BA crew stay there and it's always a bit lively in the bar. Adds to the holiday experience!
