Does anyone else love a Premier Inn?

Staying at a Premier Inn with the dc for one night and I do bloody love them! You always know exactly what you're going to get (helpful with sen children), the breakfast is cheap and filling, comfy beds and we've always found the staff to be helpful amd friendly. My only gripe would be the air con and sealed windows which always feels stuffy as I like to open windows at home. The TV is also extremely slow when changing channels but we all our various devices with us. I know they are the bargain basement of hotels but I always enjoy staying here. Perhaps I'm just easily pleased?

Love a premier inn, know what you're getting. Kids love the breakfast. I wouldn't do it for a two week holiday but for a night or two visiting family / a wedding / breaking up a drive can't fault it.

I like a Premier Inn. You know what you're going to get, and the breakfasts are splendid. I've found that you get the better deals the further ahead you book, although sometimes it depends. They seem to base their prices on how booked up they are already, and the busier it is, the more the room costs. So if there's a big wedding, function, sporting event or whatever on the day you want, it will push the price up a lot because of all the people who've booked already. I'll then look at other ones in the area and there's usually at least one that's cheaper.

I love premier Inns - although they are more expensive than they used to be. Having said that the earlier you book ahead, the cheaper the prices. Think you can book up about a year ahead. Prices also go up if there is a special event in the ones nearest the event as soon as the event is announced. Often stay in one near the Hydro in Glasgow and prices are always more as soon as a big Act/Gig is announced. Having said that, they are still cheaper than the other hotels in the same area - Crowne Plaza, Radisson, Hilton etc on the same days

The breakfasts are great and as you say, you know what you are going to get!

I like them, and if they're being used as a stopover, I like that you can get a deal where you get breakfast, 2 course dinner and a glass of wine for about £25 a head. Really handy not having to hunt around for somewhere to eat if you're just dropping by for a stopover.

I do think they've shot up in price though - £100+ the last few times we've stayed in one for DH & I, room only. I always check the prices of the (vastly superior) Crowne Plazas, because often it's similar price or only a smidge more, and you get a much, much nicer experience that feels fairly luxurious, a far nicer breakfast, and often access to a swimming pool/gym.

I love a premier Inn but I am finding them getting more expensive and we can't do as many mini breaks these days (we used to go away for at least one night every school hols! Gone are those days now)

Premier Inn breakfast is a proper treat though!! Love it

Just stayed at the Heathrow T4 one which has some really good tweaks for travellers. It's attached to the terminal by a covered bridge, very friendly staff, breakfast from 5.30am, and the bar was open til 4am.
And best of all for my nerdy self, I asked for a runway view and sat very happily watching landings for a couple of hours whilst having a glass of wine.

watermeloncougar · 17/08/2023 19:27

I like that you know exactly what you'll get, but tbh I prefer to find something for the same price that's more interesting! Also I cannot stand the sealed windows. As someone who likes to sleep with windows open in minus temperatures, it just feels a bit bleurgh, like I'm breathing recycled air

I prefer Holiday Inn.
Every time I've stayed at a PI I've got very little, or no sleep due to paper thin walls, pillows like concrete, the rooms being too hot and in one in particular, I was kept awake by wondering what the heck had happened in the room previously that resulted in blood spatter being on the ceiling.

Previous occupant must have the same menstrual cup as me

BakewellGin1 · 17/08/2023 19:32

@MrsSchrute most recent stay was Kingston felt safe both in the room and around the building for food etc

ShanghaiDiva · 17/08/2023 19:34

Love them. Dh and I have a list of various places we want to go for a weekend and check the premier inn prices and off we go.
This year we paid under £40 for a night near Newquay and £150 for three nights near Beaconsfield.

Yarsvi · 17/08/2023 19:35

Stayed in a Premier plus room at St Pancras recently. Fantastic view, spotless, silent and the blackout curtains were phenomenal. I can never sleep properly but I did there. However, cheap it was not.

Clicheinaqashqai · 17/08/2023 19:41

We stayed at the new Hub in Camden last Friday night and it was excellent! Room was nicer and larger than I expected and we couldn't hear a peep from the bars and pubs surrounding us.

£114.50 including breakfast, pretty cheap considering it's August, a Friday night and the location is 2 mins walk to the tube.

Oopsididitagain12 · 17/08/2023 19:41

Love them, although agreenprices can be up and down. Especially like the ones tied to a Brewers Fayre with an indoor soft play. Perfect for the kids.

Voltsampsohms · 17/08/2023 19:49

Yes love them (but getting so expensive - was great when it could be £23 per night in the noughties).
We used to get a family room with our then primary aged children. They loved the help yourself breakfast. I will always remember one of them overhearing us chatting and saying with genuine incredulity "but IS there anywhere posher than Premier Inn?"

Vitriolinsanity · 17/08/2023 19:56

IME they are central, spotless and serve a fab breakfast. Total reliability.

WhenIWasAFieldMyself · 17/08/2023 20:00

I could live in one. Bloody love them.
In fairness, if the prices are the same I'd go for a Hampton, but usually, especially in London, a PI is cheaper.
My go to chain hotel podium is:
Hampton
PI
Holiday Inn Express.

DragonFly98 · 17/08/2023 20:13

We recently stayed at the premier in Leicester to visit the space museum they asked when booking why we were staying and left this on the bed. Space balloons , stickers and colouring sheets and stickers for the children.

The Hub one in Edinburgh was great, really quiet even on a busy street and for Edinburgh, not stupid expensive. The one we stayed in in Manchester last year was tired and creaky.

Is this the one on Rose Street? We love it!

enjoyingscience · 17/08/2023 20:24

I love them too! DS sometimes has sporting competitions away and we always stay, mostly because of the breakfasts.

Always clean, comfy and reliable.

Toddlerteaplease · 17/08/2023 20:26

Yep and love the breakfast!

Doyouthinktheyknow · 17/08/2023 20:28

Absolutely love a premier inn, you know exactly what you are going to get and although prices have gone up, you can still get an occasional bargain.

My favorites are Isle of Wight (Newport and Sandown seafront), Margate Beach and Southend.

It’s a number of years ago now but we took our dses to Southend Premier inn for the night and it cost £40! Such a bargain. Okay it was New Year’s Day and bloody freezing and I put the dses off Southend for life but I loved it and DH and I go regularly now.

Toddlerteaplease · 17/08/2023 20:30

I stayed in a Liverpool one a few times on Christmas Eve night, and enjoyed starting Christmas with breakfast. And it was only about £30 per night.

DragonFly98 · 17/08/2023 20:35

Oh and forgot to say it was £37.50 and this summer holidays.

babbscrabbs · 17/08/2023 20:39

Big fan of Premier Inns although the popular, nicer ones in big cities are now quite expensive.

On average, so much better than Travelodge, Ibis, Holiday Inn, Novotel etc, although there's a fair bit of variety between the quality.

My kids LOVE the breakfast.

Daisychainsandglitter · 17/08/2023 20:43

I love them with the kids and they really enjoy the breakfast.
I recently stayed in the Euston one after a night out with friends and that had definitely seen better days especially when compared against the St Pancras one a few doors up.
I also stayed at the King's Cross hub last week with DH. Was a little cramped for two people and we were in the basement so felt a bit airless. Probably wouldn't do a hub again.
