Does anyone else love a Premier Inn?

Staying at a Premier Inn with the dc for one night and I do bloody love them! You always know exactly what you're going to get (helpful with sen children), the breakfast is cheap and filling, comfy beds and we've always found the staff to be helpful amd friendly. My only gripe would be the air con and sealed windows which always feels stuffy as I like to open windows at home. The TV is also extremely slow when changing channels but we all our various devices with us. I know they are the bargain basement of hotels but I always enjoy staying here. Perhaps I'm just easily pleased?

I LOVE the beds

The view was, I’d imagine, similar to that of a prison cell.

This is our view! 🤣

My only gripe with a Premier in is the massive, thick duvets in the middle of summer!

You did well to get a bargain OP, whenever we look at a PI it’s way too expensive, we don’t book with them anymore.

😂 Ours was worse. A massive expanse of brick wall!

I've always loved them and stayed in so many over the years with my DC. But they've got sooo expensive (not just inflation type increase), plus I now need to book two rooms due to DC age. Can't really go anymore, unless it's a Sunday night, as they are often still reasonable.

PuttingDownRoots · 17/08/2023 09:23

The breakfast is extremely good value with children. Dont bother when it's just DH and I, but do with them.

They're the best because they're so predictable. Always clean. Always a good breakfast. Comfy beds.

PuttingDownRoots · 17/08/2023 09:26

Re the view... DH and I send pictures of the various bins we see from hotels. The best was a bin in the canal... (not premier inn that time)

Yes!

I used to get laughed at at work back when we travelled a lot. Everyone would be staying at the Hilton for £200 per night, but I’d be off to the Premier Inn because it was nicer.

That's the thing! So many Hilton hotels are shit.

Opposite here, I’ve stayed in premier inns three times and they have all been awful.

The first one was very dirty, the bedding had visible stains, the bathroom wasn’t clean and the hallway to rooms had a very strong musty smell.

Second one again not very clean, the carpet in the bedroom clearly hadn’t been vacuumed in a very long time, grass, glitter, hair all visible on the carpet. Rather than change the room or clean it, staff advised I kept my shoes on when walking on the carpet.

Third one wasn’t that long ago, the bathroom clearly had a bit of a blocked pipe in the bath as you could smell drains, the bath also started to fill when I had a shower. Awful hard and lumpy bed as well.

My work place has now stopped using premier inn as so many of us were having poor stays, and they weren’t cheap stays either.

LifeIsShitJustNow · 17/08/2023 09:33

Premier Inn must have lost money when we were going with the two teen dcs.
They were both eating for England and breakfast was always very much appreciated (and a big highlight for them)

AlfietheSchnauzer · 17/08/2023 09:38

My autistic DD LOVES Premier Inn (especially the premier plus rooms).

As we cannot afford a holiday this year, I've promised her a night in a Premier Inn. I just can’t decide where to go!

ActDottie · 17/08/2023 09:43

I find them overpriced for one night stays always go travel lodge instead which isn’t as nice but I’ve never had any problems.

madeinmanc · 17/08/2023 09:44

When I was younger I used to stay in them and my (female) boss who was also my close friend would be on the trips too, too. We had so much fun, even though we were working I guess we just had not much to worry about in life, so yeah I always get weirdly enthusiastic about them.

ArthnoldManacatsaman · 17/08/2023 09:46

Loved them up until about 6-7 years ago for similar reasons to those you mentioned OP - predictability, good breakfast including free for DC, 2 extra singles in the family room (the one time we tried Travelodge it was an extra double which meant very little sleep for all of us as DC weren’t good at sharing), always clean and staff friendly. Then we noticed the breakfasts deteriorating (as prices increased) with less choice, poorer quality and everything congealing on a buffet as opposed to freshly cooked. Then like lots of MNers have found, when eldest turned 16 there’s the issue of max 2 adults in a room so we switched to Travelodge ever since.
However I’m taking DD to an open day in September and I’ve booked PI as it was massively cheaper than TL, I was impressed with the extra tier of booking that is part way between the saver price and the flexible.

CherryTox · 17/08/2023 09:51

No - we won’t use them any more after they didn’t uphold their good night’s sleep guarantee. It’s not worth the paper it’s written on!

Alighttouchonthetiller · 17/08/2023 09:56

I'm a bit sick of them, tbh. We have used them a lot in recent months as family-friendly etc, but I am really hankering for a stay (without children) in a proper, luxurious, posh hotel, with a fabulous bar and a fancy restaurant. There's only so much Premier Inn one person can take. Plus I hate how stuffy the rooms are.

Enthusedeggplant · 17/08/2023 09:58

There accessible rooms are a find when so many places either don’t have decent accessible rooms or have them booked up. I use them a lot and although am sometimes sent to more expensive hotels rarely find them that much better and certainly wouldn’t pay the extra

BeverleyMacker · 17/08/2023 10:01

Ooh no. Hate them. Stayed in one near Chessington last year. Should have turned around when we arrived and saw all the stained mattresses piled up in the carpark 🤢 There were security guards on each floor and the carpets looked like they hadn't even seen a hoover. It was grim. The annoying thing was it was the only dog friendly place available and we had to pay an extra £20 for her and the deep clean of our room after we left. Complete piss take as there was still old dog hair everywhere. No deep clean at all before we arrived 🤢

Apologies it was a travel lodge NOT Premier inn.

Dontcallmescarface · 17/08/2023 10:03

I prefer Holiday Inn.
Every time I've stayed at a PI I've got very little, or no sleep due to paper thin walls, pillows like concrete, the rooms being too hot and in one in particular, I was kept awake by wondering what the heck had happened in the room previously that resulted in blood spatter being on the ceiling.

TeaMistress · 17/08/2023 10:10

Love Premier Inn but they have become quite expensive. They are clean and comfy rooms and really good breakfast.

ZZpop · 17/08/2023 10:11

I like them because of the reliably good beds which I think is the most important thing. I usually get breakfast somewhere else.
