Does anyone else love a Premier Inn?

Staying at a Premier Inn with the dc for one night and I do bloody love them! You always know exactly what you're going to get (helpful with sen children), the breakfast is cheap and filling, comfy beds and we've always found the staff to be helpful amd friendly. My only gripe would be the air con and sealed windows which always feels stuffy as I like to open windows at home. The TV is also extremely slow when changing channels but we all our various devices with us. I know they are the bargain basement of hotels but I always enjoy staying here. Perhaps I'm just easily pleased?

They are reliable and decent with a comfy bed. However...they're not as cheap as they used t be.
Have opted for a Holiday Inn this weekend as comes with free parking unlike the PI in the same city.

fartfacenotfatface · 17/08/2023 16:45

We love them because the kids' beds are two separate pull out beds, rather than them having to share a sofa bed (we have mixed sex children who are too old to share now really).

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 17/08/2023 16:47

I like them but only with air con as they're roasting otherwise!

We stayed in several and they do vary a great deal, depending where they are. The Aberdeen one was very good, located right in the centre. The price was on an electric sign at the door and fluctuated depending on occupancy and time of year/day.
The Hammersmith, London one has fabulous views of the river, great breakfast, near the tube, but no parking. The Perivale, West London one has loads of parking, near the tube, has opening windows, but the breakfast in the pub next door not so good.
These are just a few, maybe I shou,d write a guide 😂

Spidey66 · 17/08/2023 17:02

I don't mind them but they don't accept dogs (except guide dogs obv) sowe go to Travelodge instead.

Waits for the invariable MN flaming for daring to take a dog to a hotel.

EggOverEasy · 17/08/2023 17:06

They are ok. But not as consistently cheap as they used to be and the air con rarely kicks in. Given their prices there are much better options out there.

Our granddaughter loves a Premier Inn, calls them Moon Holidays Grin she can spot those moon signs from a great distance.
The rooms all look the same but that means there won't be any nasty surprises and the beds are always comfy. The breakfast is good value, especially if you have children with you.
Their prices have gone up significantly recently though, not as many bargains to be had.

My only gripe with a Premier in is the massive, thick duvets in the middle of summer!

This. We stayed in one just outside Glasgow last week and I was boiling every night. The aircon only went down to 19 degrees so it wasn't particularly cool. Even having windows that open a crack would help with the airlessness.

I'm not overly impressed with the soundproofing either - we were in a family room on the ground floor so heard every footstep from above. The PI Zip we stayed in in Cardiff recently (sort of windowless pods) was far quieter.

Cleaning isn't done daily either unless you ask for it. I'd have expected the mugs etc. to have been replaced every day but even when we requested clean towels half-way through our stay, that's all we got - no clean crockery or bin emptying.

BananaSlug · 17/08/2023 17:57

I don’t think they are cheap. Wanted to book one for 2 nights and it was £200. I don’t think that’s cheap?

goingtotown · 17/08/2023 18:00

Book early for a bargain. Always spotlessly clean.

grunttheterrible · 17/08/2023 18:01

Love it! Staying in one Monday and Tuesday coming

Twizbe · 17/08/2023 18:02

With kids they are so good. We’re staying in one next week as a little UK break.

They might not be the cheapest, but if the kids are happy, I’m happy.

OhhhhhhhhBiscuits · 17/08/2023 18:05

I normally love them as like you you know what you are going to get. We stayed in one last week and it was shit. Hotter than hell, the "rainfall" shower was a poor drizzle and the room just looked so battered it was not great. We even found a pube stuck to the bathroom wall 🤮 it has put me off for a while.

clarepetal · 17/08/2023 18:06

Hell yes!!!

I was looking last week and cheapest I could get was £125, they've gone up a lot!

MrsSchrute · 17/08/2023 18:07

Anyone stayed in any of the London ones as a lone female and felt safe? Got my first lone stay soon and a recent thread has raised some concerns!

MrsMoastyToasty · 17/08/2023 18:08

I love a Premier Inn, although we do tend to find the nearest tesco or asda with a cafe for breakfast as they're cheaper.

We've also rocked up without a prior booking and they have either managed to find us a room or book ahead for the next one on our route.

WorriedMillie · 17/08/2023 18:09

We call them purple hotels! 🤣 and yes they’re great, but echo they’ve definitely increased in price

I stayed in the Cardiff Hub one a few years back, it was £22/night and it was fab!

DinnaeFashYersel · 17/08/2023 18:12

Premier Inns have the comfiest beds of all the chains.

But I prefer IHG's rewards programme so always stay in their hotels to rack up the points for free holidays. I have to do a lot of overnights for work

Drfosters · 17/08/2023 18:13

You are not alone - We love them! Bed super comfy- plenty of room for family of 4. Kids love the breakfasts (I am sure they notice the amount do Nutella packets decrease rapidly once my kids have left)! Rooms reasonably priced. What is not to like?!!

only downside is they do get hot in the summer and a little fridge would be useful

Fartooold · 17/08/2023 18:16

Love them or hate them ( and I love them), you always know exactly what you're getting.
I used them when travelling for business, and would not hesitate again now that I'm retired. Always reliably decent.

FoodieToo · 17/08/2023 18:17

Massive fans !! Stayed in one last week, and will be in two different ones next week! We travel over a lot from Dublin and always stay there .
Also use them the night before / after flights !
Clean , comfortable , great food !

KnottyKnitting · 17/08/2023 18:24

I find the beds very hit and miss. When they are good they are fab but two of the three rooms we have stayed in recently ( in Glasgow) have had big dips in them and no good at all for my ropey back. Needless to say they were not at all interested in my complaint...

Theoldwrinkley · 17/08/2023 18:38

I have mobility issues, and a bit of anxiety as if staying away you are never quite sure 'what you will get'. But Premier Inns are consistent with (generally) helpful staff.

Yes, frequently (in both the standard Premier Inn hotels and the 'Hubs'). I've never had a problem or felt uneasy in any way.
