Does anyone else love a Premier Inn?

Staying at a Premier Inn with the dc for one night and I do bloody love them! You always know exactly what you're going to get (helpful with sen children), the breakfast is cheap and filling, comfy beds and we've always found the staff to be helpful amd friendly. My only gripe would be the air con and sealed windows which always feels stuffy as I like to open windows at home. The TV is also extremely slow when changing channels but we all our various devices with us. I know they are the bargain basement of hotels but I always enjoy staying here. Perhaps I'm just easily pleased?

I used to.
Recently I've noticed the standard of service going down and prices increasing dramatically at the main one we use (and have stayed at many times). It's put me off a bit.

I like them. Does what it 'says on the tin '
The prices have gone up though

Yes,I like them because you know exactly what you're getting. The few times I've strayed from Premier Inns,I've nearly always regretted it. I love Premier Inns mainly for their lovely beds and brilliant, reasonably priced breakfasts. Plus the staff are always lovely and helpful. My only gripes are the sealed windows (seems to be a common complaint!) and the slow TVs with lack of variety of the channels.

Don’t love it no but with the kids is usually the best value and/or only option. They just love the breakfast.

StillWantingADog · 01/12/2024 20:52

oh and although they don’t advertise it widely anymore the good night sleep guarantee seems to still hold.

had a really noisy room earlier this year, mentioned at check out and didn’t really think much of it, got a call later that day from the hotel manager to say I’d be fully refunded. I hadn’t asked for that so I was impressed as we’d spent £170 on that room for the four of us.

Love a premier inn. You know it's going to be clean and comfortable. The breakfast is brilliant value if you have kids.

I would have bought one of their mattresses if they did them in European sizes.

Ohnonotmeagain · 01/12/2024 20:58

I don’t find them value for money any more.

quite often I find other chains cheaper and in better locations. That often have rewards programmes etc that make it even cheaper if you’re a regular.

as a veggie food is shit- I once got a plate of quartered tomatoes as my main course. Breakfasts aren’t great for me or my dairy/gluten allergic child.

topper was one I stayed in which was clean, but had a faint permeating smell of vomit.

so I rarely even look at them any more.

What I love about them is their no dogs policy! 🍾🎆

Yes!!! A few years ago my friends and I went to a Hilton hotel, but weren't happy because of some stuff that went on, including reception ignoring our friend in a wheelchair. Next time we went to a Premier Inn and upon going to our rooms, including our wheelchair bound friend, we all said "Wow, this is loads better than the Hilton!" Really comfortable and delicious breakfasts with plenty of choice, and much cheaper than the Hilton. It was the one at Albert Dock in Liverpool.

I was in one the other week and a mouse was next to the buffet 😬😬

TheChosenTwo · 01/12/2024 21:17

Well they’re pretty no frills but usually clean and tidy and serve a purpose for us, a night before travelling or a stop off somewhere.
Recently stayed at one by Gatwick and it was horribly dingy and depressing. There was a bigger one about 5 minutes away that was far newer but unavailable when we booked. Ended up having dinner there which was everything I expected an evening meal at a PI to be, perfunctory and filled a hole! The bed felt small but comfortable enough, we were up at 3 for our flight so no breakfast which we do always find to be okay!
I wouldn’t consider a PI for anything other than a one night stop over somewhere but they’re absolutely fine.

Now you're talking ...I'd love one of those beds 😭

Prices have gone up, but it's possible to save quite a bit if you can be flexible about which days you go. Some are more expensive during the week, some more expensive at weekends, depending on location.

FlippyFloppyShoe · 01/12/2024 21:38

Some are better than others, but have been a very regular user as a single parent for 9 years. My DC judge other hotels/air bnbs by comparing them to staying in premier inns and premier inns usually win, although we use Accor hotels when abroad.
I have noticed that can rarely get a £40 room now, so we are using them less frequently now partly due to this.
