I don't think I've EVER been bored

Really, never Confused

With access to the internet for 30 years now there's always books/articles - anything 🤷‍♀️ to read

Plus going out for walks, tv watching, playing games, dogs to cuddle

I just can't imagine ever being bored

And yes my boredom comes from needing to do things which I find uninteresting. I never have nothing to do!!!

It's never too late to start?

I have such poor hand eye coordination. And am in my 50s. I walk for hours and swim but racket sports are out! Starting yoga shortly though.

That said, I am in London so most of my activities involve going to museums or galleries or gigs. Nearly went mad in the lockdown

lastminutewednesday · 12/08/2023 16:09

I never get bored really. If I'm not out doing or seeing something there is always something to be done at home, or something to read or watch.
Im happy in my own company as much as I am with other people and I think that's probably the key to it.

LaurieFairyCake · 12/08/2023 16:11

God yes, Harriet - 2 jobs, work all the time.

Me too, OP. It's something I think about when I hear other people announcing they're bored. Even if I'm undecided what to do or frankly can't be arsed moving, I'd never say I was bored. I don't enjoy the 'boring' stuff but even when engaged in it, I'm still not bored! It's just occurred to me that I'm not sure I understand the concept...

On the other hand, I would describe myself as 'boring'!!

God yes, Harriet - 2 jobs, work all the time.

Then you're extremely lucky that you encounter no boring parts, however much you love your jobs.

LynetteScavo · 12/08/2023 16:15

I never get bored at home. I've definitely been bored during training at work Grin

LauderSyme · 12/08/2023 16:17

My parents always said that only boring people are bored.

When I am unwell with depression and anxiety I find absolutely everything boring; nothing sparks my interest or excitement. But I suppose that's more of an existential ennui (she says high-falutingly....)

Lightningspeed · 12/08/2023 16:18

I'd say when I'm bored it's more than bored iyswim, a mood where nothing will occupy my attention, even things I usually like, is ennui the right word?

Itsvalentino · 12/08/2023 16:19

I think being bored and having nothing to do are two different things.

I’ve never not got something to do, something to read, somewhere to be, but I have been bored. I find listening to people waffle on in meetings at work sooooo boring, even though I’m busy listening and making notes. I’m still bored 😴 😴

ItsMyUkelele · 12/08/2023 16:19

I never get bored either.

Unless I'm at work and it's quiet.

Lightningspeed · 12/08/2023 16:19

Snap @LauderSyme , makes sense (I too suffer depression and anxiety)

dramoy · 12/08/2023 16:20

Was the internet widely available 30 yrs ago?

LaurieFairyCake · 12/08/2023 16:21

I was at uni 30 years ago and I remember being on aol chat then

Lightningspeed · 12/08/2023 16:22

I worry about the Internet going away or being fully sanitised Blush I love a rabbit hole.

User13986509 · 12/08/2023 16:26

There probably was internet 30 years ago, I can't remember exactly but it would have been dial up and slow so people didn't tend to spend so long on it, I was around though way before internet and don't remember being any more bored than I get now, we just did other things like read a good book.

OriginalUsername2 · 12/08/2023 16:27

Same here. So much to learn, do, try, watch, read.. I often wish there were more me’s to go off in different directions. My problem is being paralysed by choice!

LauderSyme · 12/08/2023 16:27

@Lightningspeed Bless you it's horrible and rubbish, isn't it? I spend a lot of my free time online but sometimes I just can't maintain focus and concentration for more than a few seconds cos everything feels soooo boooring!

Busubaba · 12/08/2023 16:28

I've never ever been bored, either.

There is always something to occupy my mind and thoughts in the absence of having 'nothing to do'!

User13986509 · 12/08/2023 16:28

We got a home computer in the mid 90s iirc.

Almostwelsh · 12/08/2023 16:30

Clearly you've never been kept waiting for 2 hours in a hospital for a routine appointment. When you can't get any service on your phone and they've taken the magazines away due to covid.

User13986509 · 12/08/2023 16:31

When I worked, I'm retired now, I was sometimes bored then but not in my own time

IHateFlies · 12/08/2023 16:33

The only time I get bored is when I'm tired and can't be bothered to do anything but I really want to do something.

YukoandHiro · 12/08/2023 16:35

Not even in an interminable school lesson on a subject that wasn't your bag?

I remember writing down every minute to the end of the class so I could tick them off as they went by...

YukoandHiro · 12/08/2023 16:35

doroda · 12/08/2023 15:50

I think if you're spending your time on a forum announcing to a bunch of strangers that you've never been bored, then you probably are actually quite bored.

Also, this
