How late is your 11 year old DD allowed out in town?

DD has an activity that finishes at 6pm. Allowing 10 mins to change, walk to bus stop, bus at 615. 15 mins to main station, wait at station until 650 when bus home leaves (although bus usually there by 645).

Would you be happy to let your 11 year old DD do this alone each week?

Incidentally- mine weren't allowed "out in town" at this age. I'm talking about this specific sort of journey.

@Singleandproud- I agree- I remember basically the exact same question not that long ago!

You say everyone else does this (doesn't get picked up) are they all getting the same bus to the station? Do you pick her up at the other end or does she also walk home alone? For me, if there were other kids taking her, guaranteed to the bus station, and the bus station is manned- I would maybe possibly consider it at 12-13 yr old. Is there other practise going on afterward? Can sue stay at the club and your husband pick her up later?

@TimeToMoveIt cars are very expensive and most of us see them as essential for independence and work but I guess it very much depends on where you live. But if I didn’t have my car it’d save me hundreds a month

It would be useful for you to explain.

I'm fairly sure it's because you seem to be saying that the OP should let her 11 year old do this despite the fact that she's likely to get bothered by paedophiles (as in your own experience) because it will build resilience?
