Emmerdales Wendy posner played by Susan Cookson. I literally cringe at her fake whiney tearless crying urgh

Whitewolf2 · 04/08/2023 20:37

Richard Madden is very nice to look at but was very wooden in Citadel or Eternals, or maybe he just always plays the same character - aloof grumpy hot guy.

There was talk at the time that a lot of Alan Rickmans scenes were cut as he was acting Kevin Costner off the screen and KC was supposed to be the star.

Empire magazine; "Legend has it he kept refusing the role of the Sheriff of Nottingham until it was agreed he could do whatever he liked with it—which, to Kevin Costner's rumoured chagrin, included stealing the whole damn show."

Rickman was truly one of the greats. He made Bruce Willis too.

Mark Wahlberg. I think he's truly terrible and can't stand to watch him.

He wasn't bad in Lone Survivor, but yeah generally I'd agree with you on that.

Tom Hanks.

He just fucks me off.

I agree.

I don't think some actors career has ended over a few posts on MN before, other forums are probably a lot more brutal.

It’s not “a few posts on MN” though, is it? There’s genuinely some arsehole comments on here towards these actors. It’s not lighthearted shitting on someone’s entire career and calling them “trash”. I haven’t read further but I imagine these awful comments continue.

Daniel Mays. I think he's good

I thought he was very good in Line of Duty as the bent cop.

Olivia Colman for her acting at awards ceremonies - the faux bashfulness / giddiness.

I agree! Don’t quite understand National Treasure status.

Keira Knightley...because of the...OTT ENUNCIATION

I didn't have to go too far down the list to find Kiera. That awful chin jutting "Noone could possibly find me pretty" demeanour make me wanna cry every time!

Agree with everyone about Emma Watson - so wooden she's hard to watch - not sure how she's maintained a career since Harry Potter.

Disagree about Hugh Grant though. I know he seemed to play a lot of bumbling British gents for a while but actually when he steps out of that comfort zone he's really good e.g. Jeremy Thorpe or his character in The Gentleman.

Agree re Hugh Grant. Has been a bit of a revelation as he gets older and casts aside the floppy haired stereotype. I imagine he has more fun acting nowadays.

Have you seen the bodyguard on bbc? Might still on iplayer. I binged the whole thing. It had me on edge. He was incredible in that. He was also good in game of thrones and rocket man.

The guy who plays Dev in Corrie is horrendous, he's so hammy it's unbelievable. I do think it makes him very likeable tho for some reason 🤣🤣🤣

Yep. It is quite endearing.

FearTheWankingDead · 04/08/2023 21:16

Kate from the latest series of You was AWFUL.

He was brilliant in Paddington 2! A proper comic villian, best performance I've ever seen from him

Halo8 · 04/08/2023 21:54

Andie MacDowell, and a special mention to Keanu Reeves.

Needhelp101 · 04/08/2023 21:57

There's a little known, but excellent British comedy/horror film called Severance, in which Danny Dyer is actually pretty good. Obviously, he's playing Danny Dyer, but it works for the character. Ditto Human Traffic.

Hugh Grant has definitely grown into his career. He's superb in Paddington 2.

whiteroseredrose · 04/08/2023 21:58

Andy McDowell in 4 weddings and a funeral

Yiayoula · 04/08/2023 22:00

Nicholas Cage for everything I’ve ever seen him in , but specifically for ruining Captain Corelli’s Mandolin .
Bastard .

xYerDaSellsAvonx · 04/08/2023 22:25

Emily Rios who plays Andrea in Breaking Bad.

This thread seems a bit mean spirited. Can’t imagine how shite I’d feel if I saw people slagging off my ability to do my job online

And there it is, as predicted.

Do you really think actors read Mumsnet? Or haven't learned to grow a thick skin over the years?

VeridicalVagabond · 04/08/2023 22:52
Tommy Wiseau Lol GIF by The Room

Tommy Wiseau 😁

Danny ‘der wawl’ Dyer. Single-handedly responsibly for improving the time it takes me to grab the remote and turn over, tenfold.

James Nesbitt. He is exactly the same person in everything he’s in!

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 04/08/2023 23:43

Nicola Walker. Might as well write it in to her contract that every one of the characters she plays is called Nicola Walker, gives her even less to do…

I would have wholeheartedly agreed with you l, but then I saw Renfield, and suddenly it all made sense. He was born to play Conde Dracu…

tothesea · 04/08/2023 23:47

I want to not like Keira Knightly but I always enjoy her films. I think she’s a good actress actually she’s just a bit annoying and jaw jutty outy.
