A special award for worst actor in worst film should go to Cosmo Jarvis in It Is In Us All. It’s quite stunning in its awfulness.

drpet49 · 04/08/2023 23:50

Charlie from Casualty

MouseMinge · 05/08/2023 00:16

I've never seen a Harry Potter film so I've only ever seen Emma Watson in one film and I only saw some of that, Beauty and the Beast. She's a truly bad actress and a slightly annoying person when she gives interviews or public talks so my guess is that she has a limited future in the acting business which may already have become a limited past.

All soap 'stars' no wonder so very few progress

totally agree. Great actor.

Kristen Stewart gets my vote.

I admit to not having seen KS in much, but she was astonishingly good in Clouds of Sils Maria (offbeat Olivier Assayas from 2014). Acted the wonderful Juliette Binoche off the screen, and won a César for Best Supporting Actress — I think the first time an American won.

The person I cannot watch without wanting to cut my own head off is Will Smith. He might be brilliant, admittedly, because I’ve never got past about two seconds of screen time featuring him.

HRTQueen · 05/08/2023 00:36

Lesley Sharpe in Brighton

it was painful to watch. I find some of her performances to be an the character she seems to have created and doesn’t deviate from

Daisy Edgar-Jones in Where the Crawdads Sing. Just awful and so wooden ffs the women had survived on her own as a child she wasn’t all whimpering and cute. One review wrote that she looked as though she was off shopping to Waitrose I think that summed up how flat the performance was and how she looked (that obviously down to costume designer) shame as the book is great (I know it’s marmite)

CallieQ · 05/08/2023 00:46

Keanu from eastenders

Magicmichelle · 05/08/2023 00:50

The Harry Potter kids - bloody awful
Alan Rickman diplomatically said he saw Dan Rad more as a future producer.
Keira Knightly was always horrendous but actually not too bad in the new Boston Strangler film. Her poutiness annoys the shit out of me though.

SlippinJanie · 05/08/2023 01:30

It's a shame cos he seems like a hoot in real life but Liam Neeson, lordy so wooden. Just throw a wardrobe in front of the camera & be done with it.

And Leonardo de Caprio was good in Django Unchained. Everything else, cack.

bustandboom · 05/08/2023 04:56

Patsy Kensit is so wooden

Nicola Walker. Might as well write it in to her contract that every one of the characters she plays is called Nicola Walker, gives her even less to do…

I really like Nicola Walker. She was great in The Corn is Green at the NT last year, and I like her radio stuff - Annika Stranded and the Aldrich Kemp stories.

Charlie from Casualty

Hard to think that his BBC pay packet for Casualty was £350,00 - £399,000 per year!

John Cusack. He can play one character and has a terribly inexpressive face for an actor.

Ooh now you're wrong. I think he's great. Although I admit he's more...subtle than most. Love him in High Fidelity.

Nicholas Cage I can't stand him

Won't watch any films with him in as he CANNOT act. The last one I did see was him ruining Captain Corelli's Mandolin

Andy McDowell in 4 weddings and a funeral

I have seen her in other things and liked her but she does tend to play to type. Agree she was a bit wooden in 2W1F and had no chemistry with Hugh Grant

Nemesias · 05/08/2023 06:02

ive never understood the love for Alan Rickman personally - there’s no nuance or skill in anything I’ve ever seen him in I think people on here just fancied him and confused that for acting ability. Totally overrated

Maireas · 05/08/2023 06:08

Rickman had charisma but was a hammy actor. I thought he was dreadful in Sense and Sensibility.

Yarsvi · 05/08/2023 06:22

Another one here to defend Hugh Grant. I watched A Very English Scandal and was absolutely gobsmacked by how brilliant he was in this. I was unaware of this story with Jeremy Thorpe. If you're looking for something good to watch, this is superb.

I'll second whoever mentioned Angela Griffin. I started watching Crime. She plays Dougray Scott's partner and I've witnessed more sexual chemistry between two chairs.

CobraKaiNeverLoses · 05/08/2023 06:26

How have Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks and Jared Leto been mentioned on this thread?! You ladies are a tough crowd. 🤣

Maireas · 05/08/2023 06:26

I was going to say Hugh Grant was excellent in A Very British Scandal.

Danny Dyer. One face. One mode. Awful.

This!! Anyone seen 'Heat' on channel 5? Grin

Agree

The whole thing was well done and gobsmacking

Hugh Grant is definitely much more versatile than previously thought. The fantastic Paddington 2 I thought he stole.

Maireas · 05/08/2023 06:43

He was great in Paddington. I also thought he was good in the Bridget Jones films.
