What popular foods do you dislike that leave people baffled when you say you don’t like it?

I have ARFID so my diet is extremely limited anyway, but anyway here are some foods that I get people saying “how can you not like xxx”

I’ll start with

Pizza
Cake
Any cheese stronger than a cheddar

Will probably add to it as the thread goes on

Peas. Vegetable of the devil. All other veg fine but peas are vile.

Coffee is another one for me! I can't even kiss DH when he's had a cup. When I was pregnant, the smell actually made me vomit.

Ketchup
Baked beans

Butter pecan ice cream! The absolute worst food in the world!

Anything sweet or containing sugar

Krispy Kremes, bagels and Hersey bars totally rank and bland. All tried and hated.

I really hate sweetness in what is (IMO) a savoury food - fruit in salad, ketchup, sugar in peanut butter, raisins in tagine things - America is THE WORST for this

White fish is so dull, like eating flakey polystyrene

Baked beans - like what I imagine it’s like to eat an insect and have it burst releasing a chemical sludge. Exaggerating obvs, but so strange.

Truffle

I can eat these things I’d just rather not

Doughnuts are an abomination.

In addition, I have yet to taste any American sweet product that is a patch on a UK equivalent (including their own Peanut butter and ice cream )
and.. What in the sweet name of Jesus are Oreos doing in our land of Hobnobs, Jaffa cakes, and chocolate digestives? 🤨

Hot chocolate

Cream cakes

Apples in any form but especially cooked - revolting mush.

Most fast food and takeaway or ready meals. Tastes fake and dead. Not bothered by cake or ice cream.

Addicted to homemade bread, stilton and balsamic vinegar.

Cake
Jam
Tomatoes. I can just about cope with the tomato purée on a pizza but that’s it.
Fish
Bananas even the smell makes me heave.
Lamb.

Wine
Any cheese stronger than cheddar
Bacon/Ham
Steak

@continentallentil I so agree with you regarding mixing sweet with savoury. Like pineapple on a pizza for example, I don't get it.

Hot fruit of any kind . I can eat crumble cold but hot it makes me heave . Also sweet and sour .

Agree on the licorice. Devil’s favorite snack, it must be.

Oh so many

garlic generally
most fruits
most flavours of crisps
any type of curry
most of the menu from your favourite chinese
onions (unless pickled)
…..

Milk. Will eat yogurt, cheese, butter, sauces with milk in them, ice cream etc. Milk on it’s own or in drinks - no.
