I have ARFID so my diet is extremely limited anyway, but anyway here are some foods that I get people saying “how can you not like xxx”

I’ll start with

Pizza
Cake
Any cheese stronger than a cheddar

Will probably add to it as the thread goes on Grin

I find it impossible to get excited about wine or cake in general. There are a few examples of both that are nice, but on the whole wine tastes like antifreeze and cake is just a dry, flavourless waste of calories.

grunttheterrible · 03/08/2023 17:56

Beer
Eggs

Cupcakequeen75 · 03/08/2023 17:57

Butter.
Christmas pudding.
Mince pies.
Fruit cake.
Anything containing peel or sultanas.
Marmalade.
Any meat but specifically kidney or liver.

Cake. I can't bear it and people seem to think I'm really rude when I decline cake at a party or the office.

Same here. Can't stand cake and have always felt that way, so I'm really not being rude. I wish cake wasn't seen as so desirable because it gets shoved at people all the time. Give me a crispy chicken wing any day.

Beans. Weird juicy bastard things.

😂😂🤣🤣 this cracked me up.

Mine is chips/fries. Never liked them.

Callipygion · 03/08/2023 17:57

Oh I’ve never heard of that condition but I think I must have it! I now avoid going for meals out as i feel embarrassed that I hardly like anything on a menu (they put onions in nearly everything!) I can’t bear certain textures, smells and tastes, they make me retch or feel ill. These are some of mine, there’s probably loads of others.

onions
nuts
garlic
pasta
tea
alcohol
cola
Hot/spicy
porridge - too thick and lumpy
burger (meat texture is like someone has already chewed it)
peel (in cakes)
cherry
peach
veg that have ‘earthy’ flavours
parsley

hookiewookie29 · 03/08/2023 17:57

Honey
Jelly

Wishihadanalgorithm · 03/08/2023 17:58

Chips
lamb
aubergine
peas

I can actually eat those foods but I really can’t stand them.

quirkychick · 03/08/2023 17:59

I'm not very fussy (though I was as a child). Most of mine are sweet:

Banana, even worse in some kind of pudding or cooked
Meringue, too sweet
Marshmallow
Fruit salad, I like the fruit, just not all mixed and mushed up

Also posing as savoury but actually sweet:
Tomato ketchup, too sweet
Sweet and sour (I'm now allergic to pineapple, so can't eat it anyway)

Vinegar on chips, though I like both vinegar and chips, but not together.

FatOaf · 03/08/2023 18:00

Bacon - never tried it

I love bacon but I really need to be more disciplined about it. I don't eat it often because of the fat/salt and cancer risk, so when I do buy it I really ought to get high-quality stuff that costs more (and tastes better). It is quite difficult, though (because of our very lax product labelling regulations), to identify bacon that has actually been cured rather than just soaked in preservatives.

BertieBotts · 03/08/2023 18:00

I'm pretty unfussy, but I don't eat cheese and people can't get their head around this at all. It doesn't agree with me, I get raging stomach upset from it. But no idea what it is about it because I can eat every other form of dairy, including yoghurt etc. My grandma was the same.

The main thing though is that I also find it really unappealing. I don't know if that's some kind of learned response but it smells sour, sometimes worse than sour, it's really greasy, it just doesn't seem like it would be nice.

Also not a fan of pasta, though it's ok if I really like the sauce.

It is easier to avoid cheese now that dairy free and vegan stuff is more available, so happy days.

Mrsjayy · 03/08/2023 18:00

Oh I don't like lamb either its ,farmyardy

Louloulouenna · 03/08/2023 18:01

Iheartmysmart · 03/08/2023 16:51

Pasta! Can’t abide the texture of it. Nobody believes me when I tell them.

My aunt was exacting like this

She blamed it on overcooked watery boarding school pasta and not even a year in Italy cured her

continentallentil · 03/08/2023 18:02

Bananas
Any drinks with milk as an ingredient

MysteryBelle · 03/08/2023 18:06

Raisins vile

Capers vile

Ultra blended soups or anything that has been pulverized to nothingness from its original texture

Prosecco, no thank you

Lima beans, grotesque things on school trays in grammar school, would not touch with a ten foot bean pole

Rice pudding 😱

Growlybear83 · 03/08/2023 18:07

I can't think of anything I hate more than roast potatoes, followed by roast meat of any kind apart from chicken and Turkey. I swore as a child that I would never eat another roast dinner once I'd left home and apart from Christmas dinner and a roast chicken maybe twice a year, I've never endured another roast again, although I do regularly cook a roast for my husband and daughter when she's here.

MoonahSton · 03/08/2023 18:07

Gravy.

Gin.

Any kind of nut (no allergy, they're just all awful)

MysteryBelle · 03/08/2023 18:07

Peas that have been mashed up 😳
