Why did they choose to 'expose' this actress but not the 100s if other requests they get?

Perhaps they just snapped. Or perhaps they were amused at the presumption (not to mention the bad grammar) and thought it deserved a wider audience.

And what's an x-rated star when they are at home? You know she's an actor in soaps and dramas and not a porn star, right?

This!

I’d hate to be responsible for everyone word ever said by anyone I’ve hired. The party planners were trying to get stuff for free while probably charging their client a fortune. But this country loved to hate attractive famous women so let’s all bitch about the birthday girl, who’s since been quite clear that she didn’t know the email was sent and would never have asked for free stuff.

The bakery could have said no politely, posting a private email all over social media was a shitty thing to do.

She has never said she doesn’t ask for free stuff.

You’re very naive if you think CT didn’t know about the freebie grabbing. Why on Earth would they request a smaller birthday cake for the husband without consulting her first - that would be a very random surprise.

Wibblewombatz · 03/08/2023 15:03

I did quite a bit of baking over lockdown and I have no idea how any bakery stays open. A lot are closing. The ingredients for 102 cakes must be a fair whack, before any time, rates, rent, utilities...

It's an arrogant response too, a simple apology even if it was on behalf of the company would have sufficed.

If she really wanted to be offended, that company should have targetted Haxby Bakery. He wouldn't have been half so polite and his msg might have been understood better.

Possibly because of the cheek of the ask.

Having ordered from cakes ships before I’d guess

  • A 40th birthday cake fancy enough to be Instagram famous - £250 easily
  • Small cake for the second citizen husband - maybe £100
  • Cupcakes - we ordered some for our wedding a decade ago and they were £2.50 per cupcake. So let’s say £3.50 these days (though it’s probably more). That’s £350
That’s AT LEAST £700 of goods they wanted for free. I’d be furious too

There’s a lot of stuff in her instagram that is “#gifted”.

#grifted

in the bin with the lot of them.

The bakery in question was not impolite in their reply and didn't expose who the client was (as its not made clear in the email)

I think CT has been made a bit of scapegoat on behalf of 100s of others that try to and succeed blag free stuff but I don't think the Instagram video helped...

I noticed that when I looked at her Instagram. Too many people on there these days begging for free stuff, and when they could easily afford to buy it. It's just greed and no wonder people are sick and tired of it.

Plus the ask is a slap in the face to us on average incomes. We have to pay our way in life, but a celebrity doesn’t? As I said previously, the ask was tone deaf and lacking any understanding what small businesses have to do to keep their livelihoods going.

Good on the bakery owner for speaking up for all of us, really. We all have bills to pay and children to feed, so why would we help someone on a much higher income than us by giving them freebies?

Enfys1982 · 03/08/2023 18:07

I was raised to believe that if you can’t afford something then you don’t have it. Who the fuck do these so called influences and z list stars think they are? They are just lazy scroungers most of them. Never done a days hard work in all their lives.

TheaBrandt · 03/08/2023 21:24

Also as a small local business she won’t want or need all the “exposure”. Surely most of her customers need to be local.

Also what has been done to the actresses face? She doesn’t look human she looks like an alien. No one looks like that. Is it some sort of filtering AI thing?

Bonnie80 · 04/08/2023 00:00

I've seen the cakes the bakery involved are capable of producing, they're really good! we should all be supporting small businesses 💛

carbuncleonapigsposterior · 05/08/2023 11:10

Good on the cake lady boss, the ask was shabby and grabby, particularly when the request is for something frivolous in a time when people are battling real hardship. PR company or not making the request, CT's response hardly covered her in glory. Maybe that's how things are done now, but nothing to admire about it imo. Also read about a nobody off Love Island, famous for 5 minutes, who asked for the same sort of thing and the bakers involved got zero publicity. Small businesses have been through such a lot in the last few years to survive Covid and come out the other side is a feat in itself, or to have to start up all over from scratch. I'm so pleased the cake shop got loads of publicity anyway, maybe they can trailblaze in making all these freeloaders and their bare faced cheek requests a thing of derision which is quite right imo!
