'Been there, done that, got the t-shirt'. For some reason this old overused one just annoys the heck out of me. I think because I always imagine the person saying it thinks they are all kinds of cool and up to date.
For the same reason 'not' at the end of a sentence. 'It's really nice..not'. This feels like it should have died when the last episode of Friends ended

usedtobeasizeten · 28/07/2023 18:04

‘My children are my world!’ Oh good….
‘Super’ instead of very/really. 🙄
Baby daddy/mama 🙈🙈
Bubba 🤮

HarrietJet · 28/07/2023 18:07

Baby daddy/mama 🙈
Oh God, yes. Pure trailer trash.

Pennyplant19 · 28/07/2023 19:19

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 28/07/2023 19:57

‘Boils my piss’ - so gross.

RestingMurderousFace · 28/07/2023 20:17

Girl Boss
Smashed it
Killing it

arlequin · 28/07/2023 21:49

"Breastfeeding mamas"
"Babywearing mamas"

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 28/07/2023 21:52

In any way, shape or form.

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 28/07/2023 21:56

Check your privilege.

You got this or even worse, you got this mama (which I’ve seen several times on here).

Tilllly · 28/07/2023 22:00

"I thought to myself".... instead of what?

"Reached out to"
No. Contacted

bryceQ · 28/07/2023 22:05

Put on my big girl pants.

I hate it so much.

tillytoodles1 · 28/07/2023 22:08

My friend always says "well at the end of the day.....".

CluelessHamster · 28/07/2023 22:11

Not gonna lie

100%

Gentle reminder

HarrietJet · 28/07/2023 22:12

Not gonna lie
Often compounded by being typed as "gunna".

Lou670 · 28/07/2023 22:20

'super' which seems to be the latest buzz word. Super busy, super tired, super hungry etc. What happened to the word 'very'?

Timbershiver · 28/07/2023 22:30

My heart is broken ( usually over something monumentally important such as the budgie has escaped from it's cage.....)

Between you and me....which means they have told everyone

RIP ( insert name of someone they never knew)...Fly High you legend

One life live it

Be Kind.....normally posted by those who have never been kind in their life

sammylady37 · 28/07/2023 22:32

Do one One what?
I was today years old when I realised… This makes no grammatical sense
On my period Why can’t you just say you have your period?
I had a baby to him and I had a baby for him No. You had a baby by him or with him, but not to or for him.

SlippySarah · 28/07/2023 22:32

"Rant over"
"End of"

"Polite Request"... usually followed by stupid local fb group idiocy.

Americanisms used by British people, particularly those that suggest the speaker has no manners, such as the response to: "would you like a slice of cake?"
Being "No, I'm good"
instead of "No, thank you"
Or
"Would you like a cup of tea?"
"I'll take a coffee"
when the correct answer would be either "yes please" or "no thank you"

To be clear I have no issue with American dialect in general but the lack of please/thank you and the adoption of this way of speaking by British people does irk.

goingtotown · 28/07/2023 22:38

It is what it is.

SunnieShine · 28/07/2023 22:40

"There's a lot to unpack".

It's a post, not a bag of shopping 🤢

SeriousFaffing · 28/07/2023 22:43

“They suffer from mental health” and all of the associated. POOR mental health or BAD mental health or suffer WITH their mental health. I just don’t understand why people cannot see/hear that it’s wrong.

Also, “holibobs”.

MollysBrolly · 28/07/2023 22:46

Tear you a new one.
Making memories.
For sure.

Wrennie24 · 28/07/2023 22:52

'Making memories'. Just makes me cringe. Memories happen, they are linked to emotion, sound, smell and place. But it's not like baking a bloody cake. Just say 'We had a great day out' not 'Memories made' as you don't know what each person made of it. So annoying and IG and FB are full of it.

SerafinasGoose · 28/07/2023 22:53

Staunch defender of the most oft-quoted unpopular phrase quoted on the thread thus far: 'boils my piss'. Bloody great phrase, really gets some impetus behind it.

Rough as a badger's arse, me. 🤪

MaidOfSteel · 28/07/2023 22:55

'Season' instead of series. And other Americanisations of our language.

'Can I get.......' when ordering in a bar, cafe, coffee shop etc. Horrible.
