I have constipation as a complication of endometriosis.

Im on lactulose and senna. Which hasn't made a lot of difference.

There was a thread on here recently about the laxative effects of dried apricots. Haven't tried it myself but it seemed very popular.

WhatInFreshHell · 27/07/2023 15:28

Glycerin Suppositories. Amazing creations!

Floralnomad · 27/07/2023 15:29

The only thing that works for me is bisacodyl ( sodium docusate ) . Start off with one if that doesn’t work overnight try 2 but do be aware they can give you almighty painful cramping . No amount of any fruit , senna , fibre works for me .

Laxido worked well for me after my c-section. Tried all the others (lactoluse, prune juice, water etc) non worked but Laxido was magic.

PrettyUpMyPorch · 27/07/2023 15:30

Movicol (also sold as Laxido or Cosmocol, both of which are less expensive versions of the same drug) - you can buy it over the counter at the pharmacy.

You can follow a disimpaction regime - this one her for a "child over 12"

I had to use a suppository after I had my dd and didn’t poo for a month! It was so quick to work 😳
hope you get some relief soon, it’s just such a miserable heavy feeling. Sending sympathy!

Corcra · 27/07/2023 15:33

Chia seeds. Trust me. I've tried everything. This is part of my diet now and totally works. I have it in porridge every morning.

PickoftheMix · 27/07/2023 15:34

Dulcolax! I've suffered from chronic constipation for years and it's the only over the counter medicine that's ever works. Warning though, only take 1 to start with because it can give stomach cramps so taking 2 in one hit when you're not used to it can make you feel extreme cramping.

I've also found magnesium helps alot too.

Prune juice warmed up in a pan and drunk as a warm drink after a breakfast of bran flakes or shredders

StartSWagaintomorrow · 27/07/2023 15:34

Apricots always work for me.

Trickofthetrade · 27/07/2023 15:34

I suffer very badly from constipation , googled a cure recently myself. Lots of people recommended flaxseed.Tried a tablespoon of whole flaxseeds left overnight in 200ml water . Drink the whole lot down in the morning. And plenty of water afterwards. The difference in regularity is unbelievable. I go every day that I take it, whereas sometimes I was constipated for a week! The only other thing that seems to work is 2 kiwis a day. Exercise also important and lots of water. Good luck. There is nothing worse.

Trickofthetrade · 27/07/2023 15:35

In addition flaxseed is full of vitamins and minerals. I've noticed an improvement in my hair and skin also.

hauntedvagina · 27/07/2023 15:36

Coffee and a couple of Marlboro lights?

carriedaway · 27/07/2023 15:36

big bowl of crunchy nut cornflakes?

Dombasle · 27/07/2023 15:36

Prune juice daily.

happywotsit · 27/07/2023 15:36

Suppositories from the chemist. 10 minutes or so and it relieves everything.

Kindofcrunchy · 27/07/2023 15:39

If you're impacted, you need 8 sachets of laxido over a certain time period and lots and lots of water. I didn't find suppositories worked for me, just made me sore. Moving forward, a maintenance dose of laxido a day and ripe nectarines work for me. And don't neglect your water intake. I definitely notice a difference when I've had enough water!

Hope you get it sorted. It's awful.

Doesn't that turn into a bit of a slimy paste type thing? How unpleasant is it to drink? It sounds like a great solution, just wondering if I could bear to drink it!

Mybusyday · 27/07/2023 15:42

Diabetic chocolate - works every time! When I worked in a care home diabetic chocolate was always the number one go to before any prescribed medication. If you can’t get diabetic chocolate then dark chocolate may help as will gentle walking or gently rocking backwards and forth whilst sitting on the loo - feel better soon.

Prelapsarianhag · 27/07/2023 15:43

Flax seed oil pills.

Yfory · 27/07/2023 15:44

Stop taking Senna - it teaches your body that it needs it to function.

Try psyllium husk (I buy 1kg bags of it online) syrup of figs, Movicol (from the chemist).

GalileoHumpkins · 27/07/2023 15:45

Aldi sugar-free butterscotch sweets, I ate two and broke a world record for running all the way home.

Snowpatrolling · 27/07/2023 15:49

Get some califig, can get it from supermarket, my youngest has bowel problems and Lactulouse and senna don’t work on her! Califig does!
