I have constipation as a complication of endometriosis.

Im on lactulose and senna. Which hasn't made a lot of difference.

Any tried and tested methods i could try? Id be so grateful 🙏

Aldi sugar-free butterscotch sweets, I ate two and broke a world record for running all the way home.

Yes! Lidl have those too at the checkout. Work well if you are backed up. (as we say here)

Runaround50 · 27/07/2023 19:49

Ooh must try the sugar free butterscotch for next time( and I really hope there isn't a next time after the last two days of being totally bunged up!!)

OP, for immediate relief, try the prune juice, figs or fresh orange. Be REALLY careful with the dreaded dulcolax if you haven't had it before. It's BRUTAL on the tummy! I took one last night and have suffered all day with cramps and pain etc.

Coffee is excellent also, as is kiwi with skins on.

Good luck 🤞

kiwi with skins on

What?! Are unpeeled kiwis edible?

whatausername · 27/07/2023 20:02

You could always use an enema but it might be fiddly as to most comfortably and effectively apply it you need your knees bent up to your chest. They're hugely effective though. Huuuugely.

I need to say first of all that I dont have chronic constipation but have had it a few times as a rebound from my IBS.
The main thing that helps me go is massage . I press my lower abdomen in an anti clockwise direction for a good few minutes at a time. I then leave it a while - drinking warm water while I wait and resume the massaging if nothing is happening. Usually doesnt take too long before relief. I also have some vaseline at the ready as the first 'push' can be painful without it.

I have arthritis in my hands and massaging can get pretty tiring and painful for me so I have a massage gun at the ready as it can be set to be lower pressure and I think that might work but I havent yet tried it.

QueueEtwo · 27/07/2023 20:17

If you have an L bend have you tried 'splinting'

This involves a finger in the vagina & press against the back wall to basically push the poo out!

I know it sounds grim & it it is pretty grim but it works!

Gyni physio recommended it! 😕

Irridescantshimmmer · 27/07/2023 20:23

Magnesium citrate 600mg, take one every day 2 hours after a meal or 1 hour before a meal.

You'll notice a difference within 24 hours.

CheeseSauce · 27/07/2023 21:00

Daily fruit smoothies, containing flaxseed, plus daily yoga,.including sitting in squat pose.

TeeBee · 27/07/2023 21:01

Pineapple. Lots of it.

Thriwit · 27/07/2023 21:35

I have obstructive constipation. I’ve tried so many things, including prescription meds, over the years. The one thing guaranteed to shift things is sodium picosulfate. You can buy it from the pharmacy. 10ml of that stuff before bed, and stay near a toilet the next day; cancel any plans. Get wet wipes/moist toilet tissue/whatever. It’s unpleasant but it works.

Online shop

My alternative cure is Google Earth street view. Never fails

Coronationstation · 27/07/2023 22:08

A coffee, an apple and a jog would probably
do it for me. The only time I’ve been constipated was due to painkillers following surgery and it was awful but something from the chemist helped eventually. I’m also dairy intolerant so some yogurt or ice cream and a brisk walk would probably do it too.

You might have to explain this one to me, I’m not following sorry

gravitytester · 27/07/2023 22:17

Salt water flush? 2tbsp of Himalayan salt in 1lt of warm water.
Have a google though, there's some conditions that it's not advised for.

MrsJBaptiste · 27/07/2023 22:58

A trip to Home Bargains.

I don't know what it is about that shop but as soon I start walking round, I get the urge to go! 😬 (see also the local library)

Teddypops · 27/07/2023 22:59

Supermarket

Lesina · 27/07/2023 23:01

Movicol. A massive dose. Like 12 / 14 sachets. Will move anything.

Rainbowsandrainclouds1 · 27/07/2023 23:03

I feel your pain.

I have endo constipation.

My gonto is food grade caster oil. Ive also found that a couple of boxes of the aldi sugar free sweets you get by the tills works a treat.

LuciaMimi · 27/07/2023 23:06

You poor thing . I have an underactive bowel,it stopped moving a few years ago. I'm prescribed Laxido, I'm not sure you can get it over the counter but it's worth a try. Dulcolax works as a temporary measure but you don't want to take them too often, just when you're v.impacted.

Cherrysoup · 27/07/2023 23:10

Dried apricots m movicol or the mini enema things in the pic.

Im constipated, please help me poo
Hawkins0001 · 27/07/2023 23:13

Curry
Or allbran I think it is, that usually helps me.

8misskitty8 · 27/07/2023 23:17

Oranges.
Lentil soup
Draught Pepsi.
McFlurrys, I had to stop getting them as whatever is in them doesn’t agree with me. Other whippy ice cream is fine though.

RachelNoire · 27/07/2023 23:18

Poo troll strikes again in a benign disguise Hmm
