I have no idea who crumbs is

🤷‍♀️

x2boys · 24/07/2023 09:27

I never got the EatShitDerek, adoration I mean she could be quite funny but not more so then any other posters ,but poster after poster would be falling over themselves to.agree with what ever mundane thing she posted about even in several other posters had posted the same thing
It wss funny when she name changed once the name change wss recognisable to.some but not all.and running enough suddenly posters who.didn't recognize her were disagreeing with her ,strange.

PegasusReturns · 24/07/2023 09:39

Crumbs was an odd one. Obviously living in fantasy land but usually posted within realms of “normal”.

The picture of her “bedroom” was so incongruously weird.

Lillygolightly · 24/07/2023 10:07

I’ve been here on and off since around 2003/4 threads I remember:

The poster who accidentally spray painted a pigeon.

French Martini Bastard - the poster had discovered a possible affair and found out her DP/DH had arranged to meet OW for French Martinis.

A Tape worm named Winnie - poster suspected she had a tape worm, named it Winnie and went on a journey of evicting it.

The poster who asked if anyone had bought this particular pram and then replied to herself a couple of years later not realising she was replying to her own question. Someone then responded with ‘is just me or is there an echo in here’ really tickled me and perfectly illustrated just how exhausting having little ones is.

The toddler AIBU thread that had me giggling away.

All these and lots of the others already mentioned and some I probably haven’t thought of yet.

lastminutewednesday · 24/07/2023 10:23

@Daffodilsandtuplips was it theblonde?

I've been here since 2005 and I still love a little scroll through, but yes like wider society I suppose, it's less kind and less funny than it was.

I attended a few meets ups and made some friends that are now RL friends. Cod got outed and possibly threatened by someone in real
Life didn't she? Or was that someone else?

LoudSnoringDog · 24/07/2023 10:34

I think I joined in 2003 as Tiredemma ( tired because no child would sleep)

Recognise lots of old names here.

BIWI · 24/07/2023 10:36

Who was the poster who did fantastic pictures using punctuation marks?

I had in mind it was @Talcandturnips but not sure.

I remember that thread! It was really funny, I only read it once and have never found it since. (Possibly my cack handed search methods tbf.)

I've never before been so gripped by reading about a Victoria sponge.

Can anyone link to it?

Found it!

Rules for Village Show Victoria Sponge Cake | Mumsnet

So I am taking the plunge and am going to enter a Victoria Sponge Cake into our local village show. I'm not pussy-footing around with lemon curd....

And I’ve been here longer than I thought - it was 2007!

Same, I remember that thread as well!

FannythePinkFlamingo · 23/07/2023 20:29

I remember Somerville I think it was whose husband had died. She then met Mr Lovely and they did end up getting married and having a baby.

I often think about Somerville and hope she and her family are well.

CliffsofMohair · 24/07/2023 11:40

WhatWouldLesleyKnopeDo was a stalwart of the amazing cancer support threads. She was so young when she passed away and so loved. I often think of the women who have frequented those boards - giving of their time, care and experience to make the road a little easier for others. TQ was amazing in raising awareness of symptoms of ovarian cancer. RIP 💐

BIWI · 24/07/2023 11:46

It always gives me a bit of a jolt when I read older threads, and see posters on those who are no longer there Sad

AnchorWHAT · 24/07/2023 12:19

I joined back in 2007 remember lots mentioned here but also superblybuilt cant remember the actual spelling she used but people always thought it was suepuplybits

AnchorWHAT · 24/07/2023 12:21

Also knickersonherhead who went to a MN wedding as a witness after a call out on here for someone togo, she posted phots and did indeed have a pair of knickers on her head 😁

LindorDoubleChoc · 24/07/2023 13:45

I'm sorry that Sparklingbrook has gone, wondered where she was.

The sex topic issue has largely passed me by. Was it just that they were turning a blind eye to the sleazy sex chat threads?

LindorDoubleChoc · 24/07/2023 13:55

Reading back - so sorry to hear about NoddyHolder Sad.

BIWI · 24/07/2023 14:04

@LindorDoubleChoc The sex topic was suddenly moved into Active Conversations, which coincided with the launch of an MN-branded sex toy. (MNHQ denied the two things were related).

At the same time, the number of days that posters had to be registered on MN before they could use the sex topic was reduced from 90 to 7 days.

Once it was in Active Conversations it became apparent that there was a sex chat thread running, where people were asking for PMs to organise sex chat/meet ups. And many posters expressed their general unease about the tone/type of threads being posted there.

It took MNHQ a long time to deal with people's concerns and complaints. A new website called F emvox was even set up, for people to move to, if they no longer wished to be on MN. (Don't think/know if Sparklingbrook is there, though).

The sex chat thread was removed, and all on the sex topic warned that this would no longer be allowed, along with PMs asking for meet-ups/sex chat. The whole topic is no longer in Active Conversations, but the time required for registration has remained at 7 days.

That thankfully passed me by sounds a bit grim!

Cod · 24/07/2023 15:56

Noddy was great. Kind and fun. Went bizarrely anti vax towards the end which was unexpected

LindorDoubleChoc · 24/07/2023 16:01

Thanks for explaining BIWI. I do remember those gruesome ads for the Shrek's Ear sex toy, come to think of it!

And Noddyholder - redhead with lots of curls ?
i wish i hadnt clicked on this now

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 24/07/2023 16:43

There's been some right blasts from the past on here. Very sorry to see some names have passed or that their children have. Sending love to all affected.

I think I've been on here since about 2007/8.

Who was the poster who befriended a crow? Was that Sparkling? Loved that.

SophiaElizabethGrace · 24/07/2023 16:53

What was the thread about the wildlife park in the Cotswolds? Was it Sparkling or Shiny? Something about a date maybe and her not going but someone volunteering to go and see if the man turned up...

It's all very jumbled in my mind but it was funny at the time.
