Best ABBA song and why?

Seeing ABBA Voyage soon and getting in the mood listening to the set list. Best ABBA song for me is SOS - just utterly euphoric and bizarrely gives me goosebumps when they sing the, "When you're gone..." bit.

What's yours?

Winner Takes It All I think.

Our last summer, which I'd not heard till I saw the film, makes me cry every single time!

Crikeyalmighty · 22/07/2023 14:45

The Day Before You Came

So clever! Can listen to it on loop.

Slipping through my fingers.

I cry ever time I hear it now that I have children, especially my daughter who is my youngest and last baby,

happygolucky42 · 22/07/2023 14:52

@Crikeyalmighty totally agree with your comment about The Visitors!

IfLoveBelievesInMe · 22/07/2023 14:55

It's hard to choose. Some of mine ;

Cassandra (hauntingly sad, beautiful melody)

Bumblebee (I love bumblebees)

Waterloo (great tune, happy song, gets everyone dancing)

Another Town, Another Train (I just like it )

Summer Night City (another feel good tune)

Happy New Year (I love this one)

The Way Old Friends Do

Dance while the music still goes on

Gingerlygreen · 22/07/2023 15:03

I love so many of them but really like One of Us.
I think Chiquitita is underrated too

Lagershandy · 22/07/2023 15:08

Another one for The Day Before You Came, very sliding doors I think.
Lay All Your Love On Me

Our Last Summer. Lovely storytelling (and a great tune).

I Still Have Faith in You.

So many great sing-along choruses. They've got me through many a long run!

Eagle
Hole in your soul
Lay all Your love on me

You've made me miss my dad now- these all make me think of his record collection.

FuckYouEzekiel · 22/07/2023 15:41

Favourite ever is Dancing Queen

Willowcat77 · 22/07/2023 15:43

Hasta Mañana! The melody is so haunting, I love it.

Also, Super Trouper is ridiculously catchy!

BettySundaes · 22/07/2023 15:48

What, I'm at the bottom. Of the scroll and no one thinks its Dancing Queen????

Jongleterre · 22/07/2023 15:49

Eagle
Summer night city
Chiquita
SOS

Cocolapew · 22/07/2023 15:54

SOS, Ring Ring and Take a Chance On Me. The vocals on Take a Chance are sublime.
I was hoping to get to Voyage over the Summer but got a puppy instead 😄

GreenEyedGiant · 22/07/2023 15:55

Chiquitita and Thank you for the music. While other teens were blaring late 90s RnB out their windows I was blasting ABBA and singing along at the top of my voice.
