There’s a vast - and more pleasant - middle ground between 13 and raining and 30 though.

I'm so fed up on the miserable rain!
Single mum to 2 under 7 and I'm finding it really hard. I can't afford soft plays trampoline parks etc everyday and before anyone says it they hate crafts and we've done all the forts and movie days etc you can imagine!
Just wish we could go out for a nice walk and ice cream, trip to the beach, catch up at the park.
Weathers so tough when you have young children!

It must be difficult for you. Just casting my mind back to when my DS was younger and we went out most days in the school holiday to outdoor activities or a local park - I'm going back around 15 years - we must have generally had better weather in the summer at that time .

@SwanAnn apparently on here if you don’t enjoy burning in the heat you’re just lazy 🙄 I also enjoy exercising in cooler weather but apparently I’m lazy because I used the dreaded word cosy after being out in the rain most of yesterday and was looking forward to getting home.

Cosy at home is definitely something to look forward to. I agree.

Yes, I exercise all year round in all weather, from snow and ice to the 30+ sunny days. I definitely prefer somewhere in the middle. The worst is indoor exercise with fans only. A couple of weeks ago we were all soaked with perspiration at a class!

I'm one of those who likes this cool, wet weather, but as an active person I find it more pleasant to run and exercise in. Those 30 degree days I have to time a run super early morning or late at night. It's just awful conditions for me.

Not to mention the risk of burning!

@SwanAnn

i don’t wanna run in the rain cos it’ll make my hair a mess

I hate this weather!
manifesting a big heat wave 🤞

@SwanAnn cosy at home isn’t something to look forward to for some of us. You get cosy at home for months on end in the uk - I don’t want it in JULY!

TiredArse · 23/07/2023 10:52

It’s still fucking raining. There is one day next week when it might be dry.

Honestly, this weather can fuck the fuck off now.

We used to take children in wellies and raincoats for our usual walks even in this sort of weather. The beach might not follow the usual pattern of picnic on the beach, sandcastles, ice cream outdoors, but the walk is pleasant and there's still things to see and do; rock pooling for instance.

@SwanAnn

its not nice at the beach with the wind and rain blowing in your face

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 23/07/2023 11:06

I agree that it’s more pleasant to run in cooler temperatures, but not in torrential rain and wind. I can’t run when it’s like this as I wear contact lenses and getting rain in my eyes is no good for them. Obviously, I can’t run in my glasses, I’d need wiper blades! Feeling very angsty and depressed today ☹️.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 23/07/2023 11:07

@SwanAnn I couldn’t agree more indoor exercise classes with fans blowing hot air is vile.

@Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse

better than trying to do it outdoors in this pissy rain with so many roads and pavements and fields water logged

Iolani · 23/07/2023 11:12

Thermometer here in the SouthEast at 19 today.
Suns out, a bit windy….not too much though.

So really lovely. It might not be hot enough for some but I can’t deal with too much heat.

I wear prescription sunglasses in this weather even when it's dull. I don't like wearing contacts for running (I think they dry more than with other exercise). I have one very lightweight raincoat with a peak cap effect on the hood. That stops the worst of the rain. I don't know what the answer is. I just take them off and wipe the first of it, as I run, if I need to. Running mostly rurally, often on tracks, so safer place to do that possibly.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 23/07/2023 11:14

@LuckySantangelo35 I love being outside I guess depends where you live, no drainage issues where I run and not raining here today so I will definitely be going out for a run after I’ve finished what I need to do today.

SwanAnn · 23/07/2023 11:17

I was talking, in that case, about Pilates (indoor classes). We never do it in fields or roads.

Sorry Grin

@SwanAnn

yeah indoor exercise is all today’s weather is fit for isn’t it
pure shite

RockyRoady · 23/07/2023 11:29

The wet weather is making some posters angry, it seems. Nobody is allowed to enjoy any other type of weather or be happy if it’s raining - it’s got to be warm and dry.
Also don’t use the word ‘cosy’ 🙄

SwanAnn · 23/07/2023 11:30

Yes, if I go for a run later I'll have to choose a different route. It will be too muddy and unsafe from the rain (thinking of one dirt hill particularly).

If I had that weather, I wouldn't be complaining at all.

It's 14 degrees and non-stop rain where I live.

@RockyRoady

well it’s unusual and yes shit for it to rain solidly for a full weekend in July. People are allowed to be displeased about it. Again it’s hard to see how anyone could be enjoying this weekends Weather
and yes cosy can sod off , you’re right there

You get wet cold dreary weather for about 10 months of the year. So yes people will complain if it’s shit during the very few months of summer we get.

Imagine if it was hot all year round - for 10 months. Then it rained for a few weeks. How would you feel if people complained then (only they wouldn’t obviously)?

Tessisme · 23/07/2023 11:58

Endless drizzle broken by huge downpours here. It's kind of business as usual in Northern Ireland, but we had some decent weather the last couple of years and it's tough to go back to the norm. I'm not as bothered by it as I was when the DC were small. DS1 is 15 and couldn't care less about the rain. He still goes out with his friends and comes home like a drowned rat. DS2 has OCD and we struggle to get him out the door at the minute, so the pressure of needing decent weather is off for us. Still utterly depressing though.

I hate heatwaves. I can't tolerate the heat but this weather of rain and no let up is brutal. I just want it to be dry.

TrueScrumptious · 23/07/2023 12:28

It’s nice here -I’m in London. A bit of a breeze but sunny.

LuckySantangelo35 · 23/07/2023 12:47

It’s terrible up north. Cold and rainy.
so dull and boring
